On Thursday, at its annual Gamer's Day press event in San Francisco, Capcom announced that development is currently underway on Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law for the PlayStation 2 and PSP. Based on the Adult Swim animated series of the same name, Harvey Birdman is slated to hit stores sometime this fall.

No gameplay footage was shown at the event, but Jack Simon, director of product marketing at Capcom Entertainment, described it as an "interactive story." As the titular character, gamers will be tasked with representing classic cartoon characters that have wacky, irreverent legal issues. High Voltage Software (Family Guy) is currently hard at work on the title, and Simon claimed that the development team is working closely with writers of the show to maintain its familiar humor and style.

"This is part of Capcom's focus on Western development," said Simon, during a presentation that emphasized the company's attempts to increase its licensed output in North America and beyond.

No word yet on whether the familiar voice actors (Stephen Colbert, Gary Cole) from the show will be returning for the video game adaptation. Stay tuned in the coming months for additional details on this gavel-dropping adventure.
