6. 'Killer 7' (NGC)

Dive into a dark world of underground assassins in a tale of revenge as Harman Smith, a man who manifests seven deadly personalities into the real world, known as the "killer7".

Alicia Ashby: The GameCube is a great little piece of console hardware that seriously lacks games that don't rely on mascots for their appeal. Killer 7 looks like a great attempt by Capcom to help fill that void, with its bizarre storyline, violent gameplay, and absolutely eye-bending graphics. It also looks like one of the few games to really capture what makes film noir style work in video game form. Killer 7 is shaping up to be a strikingly original on many levels, and may end up becoming another one of the best reasons to own a GameCube. After what Capcom did with the 'Cube in Resident Evil 4, I can't wait to see this.

Kris Graft: Capcom has been keeping so hush-hush about this title, it's hard not to build it up in your mind. The information we've seen so far illustrates very little about how the game mechanics will work. We do know that it's a mix of third- and first-person shooting, there will be plenty of gore, and there will be some insane personality-switching going on. Oh yeah, and the graphics look completely, dare I say, killer.

Thomas Wilde: The last game in the Capcom Five makes up the Dark Violent portion of what might be the GameCube's last great year. Between its bizarre hook and its unique look, Killer 7 is yet another game that demonstrates what the GameCube's really capable of. The question then becomes whether yet another triple-A GC title aimed at adults will be ignored by the gaming public.
