Joe Keiser: Dreamfall was one of my most anticipated games of last year, but now that it's been pushed into 2006, it has even less competition – it's my most anticipated game of the next 12 months, without question. The first game proved that the adventure genre still had plenty of life, in the hand of great creators. Ragnar Tornquist is that creator – Dreamfall looks to be gorgeous, deeply and intricately storied, and plans to make just enough concessions to the action-oriented to make it a game absolutely everyone must play, even if they didn't play the first one. But don't take my word for it – Dreamfall is the first game to receive a National Film Fund grant from the Norwegian government. Try getting that kind of respect for a video game out of our own American politicians, and see how far you get.
Matt Mefford: The follow-up to 2000's Adventure Game of the Year (The Longest Journey), Dreamfall has been in development for quite some time now…and the results look amazing! What we are looking at may be no less than a renaissance in the adventure gaming genre. Make no mistake, not only does this game have a truly compelling art style and storyline, but Dreamfall also touts a control scheme beyond the point-and-click style requisite of the adventure titles to date. With over 85 playable areas, three worlds, and multiple characters through which to play, expect a gaming experience like nothing else!
