Codemasters has released the first patch for Colin McRae Rally 04. This upgrade brings your retail game to v1.01 and improves the ghost car tracking system, to improve the visibility over LAN/Internet. Controller calibration is now smoother and less hard to control. The gear box testing sections are now better balanced. The game now report the ready state correctly in LAN/Internet multiplayer modes. Added code to display name, damage, tracks, etc when using GameSpy Arcade.

Atari has forged links with Microsoft, publisher of Top Spin for the Xbox, to publish the Windows PC version of Top Spin, the critically renowned tennis simulation releasing this September. Three makers of video games (EA, Vivendi & Atari) sued a Missouri company marketing software that enables consumers to make backup copies of computer games. The federal lawsuit, filed Tuesday in New York, alleges that Games X Copy software by 321 Studios Inc. of suburban St. Louis violates copyright laws by illegally cracking copy-protection systems used by game makers.
