Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, the Tokyo based parent of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that cumulative world-wide factory shipments of the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system had reached 40 million units.

ORIGIN, an Electronic Arts development studio, today announced the five-year anniversary of Ultima Online (UO), marking the event with discounts of the latest version of UO and by unveiling a new U.S. shard, an area within the game, where players can get in on the ground floor to begin a brand new adventure. In addition, ORIGIN is launching a retrospective five-year anniversary Web site that will feature original UO art and special moments shared by UO players worldwide. Plus, the anniversary will signal the launch of an in-game presentation of the five-year veteran rewards, which delivers to players collectible items in recognition of their length of citizenship in the game.

'WRECKLESS: The Yakuza Missions' Comes To GameCube

Activision, Inc. today announced that WRECKLESS: The Yakuza Missions, its mission-based driving game for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, will shift into overdrive on the Nintendo GameCube this November. Like the upcoming PlayStation2 computer entertainment system version, the Nintendo GameCube title will feature all of the ultra-realistic pulse-pounding missions of the Xbox game, plus 20 all-new missions, two-player action, 16 more vehicles to drive with mounted rockets, new sub-missions, interaction with pedestrians, 60 fps gameplay and a "Free Roam" mode.
