Valve's SteamPowered website has been updated with a few minor details about further changes to Counter-Strike: Source. While Valve isnt quite ready to announce specific details just yet, it revealed that the weapon and equipment economy will get an overhaul, and mainly involves changing the prices of every item in the game - some more significantly than others. Valve revealed that it is working on several a few updates, the first coming in about 2 weeks, to move the core Counter-Strike gameplay forward. First off, the classic Train map is getting a HDR makeover, some minor layout changes, and a number of small bugfixes. The radar is getting reworked which will result in gameplay adjustments such as when you look at an enemy for a certain amount of time his name will become visible to you, and the rest of your team.

Valve lastest Steam Update has a few details on what to expect in the near future. Valve intends to implement The Friends system soon, allowing you to see when friends are online, and playing games, as well as chat with them. Valve is also planning on going back to some of the older Counter-Strike: Source maps and giving them an High Dynamic Range pass, starting with de_dust. Next week Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 will be released and playable on Steam, which is already available for preload.

This update adds Leet and SAS player models, fixes players being able to run up very steep slopes for short distances, fixes low-violence models not animating properly, improved player ragdolls. Valve lastest Steam Update has a few details on what to expect next now that it has released The Lost Coast map for Half-Life 2. Valve has been working on two new maps for CS:S, updated versions of de_nuke and cs_militia, along with a number of new player models for both sides. Its Zombie Movie has won Best Comedy Horror Short down at Screamfest L.A., so expect it over Steam soon, and its commentary system included in Lost Coast received positive responses so Valve is looking for ways to include it in future products.

Valve lastest Steam Update has a few new screens from a reworked SAS model for Counter-Strike: Source, and also brings news about the release of DOD: Source, Lost Coast, and Aftermath, all are in the final phases of development and being polished for release. One of the new features in Lost Coast, which will be ready in a few weeks, is a commentary system, where you'll be able to hear first-hand some of the background on the features and choices in Lost Coast from the team responsible for building it.

Next week Valve plans to release the remade version of cs_assault to Counter-Strike: Source owners. If you don't currently own CS: Source, you can purchase it through Steam via any of the Half-Life 2 packages. Along with the release of cs_assault, a rebuilt version of the existing Terrorist model will be icluded, and over the course of next few months models for both teams will get updated. If you're a MOD developer, or just someone who likes to keep an eye on the MOD community, head on over to the Valve Developer Community launched earlier this week.

'Counter-Strike: Source' Beta Pre-Loading to Cyber Cafés

On Wednesday, this first phase of the beta will open and the game will be playable at all cyber cafes that subscribe to the Valve Cyber Café Program. Later this month, the beta will be extended to owners of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and ATI Fulfillment Coupon holders. This beta serves as a compatibility test of the Source engine as we near completion of development on Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source.
