On June 7, Nintendo is going totally retro with a classic collection of eight Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games for the GBA and a tubular new GBA SP that looks like an itty bitty NES console. The `80s were, like, a long time ago. But everything from then is way cool again. Back then, games went from blocky bleeps and bloops to sweet side-scrollers like Super Mario Bros. Last week gamers who purchased Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow for the Xbox, experienced an Xbox Live problem, today Ubisoft issued the following statement : "Some gamers who acquired the Xbox version of Ubisoft's critically acclaimed Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow have experienced problems using the game's online multiplayer features. Specifically, after logging onto Xbox Live and selecting the "optimatch" function, players discovered that waiting for more than about 10 seconds on the optimatch results screen causes the game to freeze indefinitely." The console dubbed the sexiest video game system is becoming even more attractive. Effective March 30, the Xbox will be available for a handsome $149.99 in the United States and $199.99 in Canada, representing a significant savings of $30 for consumers in both regions. In addition, Microsoft will reduce the price of the Xbox console in Mexico to $1,999 pesos, which translates to a consumer savings of $500 pesos or roughly $45 (U.S.).

DreamCatcher Games announced today that its highly anticipated FPS, Painkiller, has reached Gold Master Status for the PC. The game will be available April 12th at retailers across North America. At last week's GDC, Developer Oddworld Inhabitants revealed that it's latest OddWorld product, Steef's Oddysee, will no longer be published by Microsoft. Due to this development the name has been changed to "Stranger", which is also the name of the main character. Oddworld Inhabitants says that eventhough Microsoft no longer publishes the product, it will most likely remain an Xbox exclusive, and although so far no other publishers is known, Stranger, is scheduled for end of the year.

The street date for the English version of Beyond Divinity’s has been postponed to late April 2004. The main reason for the delay is Larian’s commitment to give the fans the RPG they want. With the release of the Beyond Divinity demo last month, the studio obtained a lot of a valuable feedback from the RPG community.

Far Cry is set around 2020 on a set of tropical islands in the pacific. And has a strong tropical-paradise feel, scenic in its beauty, but, harbors a terrible threat. It is a mix of jungle / primal / and next-gen technology. As the player you find yourself drawn into a secretive plot involving secret research facilities with scientists involved in military genetic-research, a secret "security" force of mercenaries, and, advanced net-generation weaponry and equipment.
