Citing multiple sources,
Variety claims that film financier Legendary Pictures is in negotiations to acquire Gears of War developer Epic Games, which would make it the first of its kind to get into video games. It is no stranger to the medium, though, as Legendary CEO Thomas Tull was, up until recently, on the board of Brash Entertainment, but resigned a few weeks ago because of the publisher's disappointing performance. Legendary Pictures is known for co-producing 300 and The Dark Knight, and is, interestingly enough, also involved in the Gears of War movie adaptation, as well as a World of Warcraft movie.

Namco Bandai's Tales of Hearts is a new 2D installment in the Tales franchise adding an Emotional Gauge to the battle system, which allows the player to perform special attacks based on the characters emotions. Ubisoft released its sales for the fiscal half-year which ended Sept. 30, 2008, revealing sales are up 37% compared to last year, mainly driven by Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway, SoulCalibur IV (Europe) and its casual games lineup. Ubisoft expects further sales increase with its holiday lineup including Far Cry 2, Snowboarding, Prince of Persia, EndWar, Rayman and several more. Unfortunately, there is also some bad news, as Related Designs' strategy game, Anno 1404, and an unannounced title, were pushed until next fiscal year (anywhere from Apr. 1, 2009 to Mar. 31, 2010).
