Sega Changes '2K' Brandname To 'ESPN'

SEGA's sports studio, Visual Concepts Entertainment, maker of the acclaimed '2K' sports game series, and ESPN, the worldwide leader in sports, today announced at a press conference at the ESPN Zone, a deeper alliance and new branding for the former SEGA Sports "2K" sports videogame series which will now be called ESPN Videogames. Further reinforcing the brand's greatest benefits - ESPN integration and presentation - ESPN Videogames will continue to deliver some of the best sports videogames on the market.

'Blitzkrieg' - Tournament

CDV Software Entertainment, a leading publisher and distributor of gaming software, is pleased to announce the official international "Blitzkrieg" tournament. "Blitzkrieg" for the PC is the latest in WWII real-time strategy that brings trench warfare, fierce tank battles, and aerial dog fights vividly to life. Organised and operated in cooperation with Turtle Entertainment, online tournaments will run in Germany, the United Kingdom, France and the United States. The two best players from each country will be flown to the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany and compete in the finals this August for a prize money of 5000 EUR (about 3500 £). Just as in the "Magic" card game, in "Magic: The Gathering - Battlegrounds" players will choose a duelist and up to two of "Magic's" five colors -- red, green, white, blue, and black -- to attempt to reduce their opponent's life to zero. Of course, getting an opponent to zero will not be easy; players will have to utilize lightning reflexes, strategic brilliance and, on occasion, raw power to overcome an enemy. Unreal II Coming To The Xbox?

After some investigative work Gamespot has noticed that online retailers EBGames and GameStop have both updated their sites with listings for an Xbox version of Legend Entertainment's first-person shooter Unreal II, which was originally released on the PC earlier this year. While EBGames has no additional info, the GameStop listing features some info and a boxshot. Gamespot contacted an Atari representative for comment and they said that no official announcements have been made about Unreal II for the Xbox. To be continued...

'Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield' - Patch Issues & Temp Solution

Noticed on BluesNews that a post on Raven Shield Platoon describes a problem they've found with the newly released v1.3 patch for Raven Shield, as well as the workaround that will at least allow you to get out without rebooting should it happen to you. Here's the deal: The 1.3 patch has an error that causes servers to crash on the "deploying countdown". The crash has you (and everyone else in the server) sitting in the game staring at the countdown stuck on 1. This happens at random times. The only way to exit is to open console and type in either disconnect or quit.

'Men of Valor: Vietnam' (PC/Xbox) - Screens

The storyline follows the player through the major actions in the conflict, from search and destroy missions around Danang airbase to the Tet offensive and the counterattack on Hue. A cast of AI controlled characters accompanies the player through the missions, and he learns their value and mourns their loss as the war progresses. The game will support a cooperative mode that allows the player to experience the entire tour of duty with his friends, and various multiplayer modes allow the player to experience the war from the perspective of North Vietnamese Army or Viet Cong guerillas as well as US Forces. The story is set in the mine valley of Khorinis. The glorious days of the once productive mines in this small seaside region are long over. Due to the farmers' decreasing production, more and more of the food deliveries are not taking place, and the stocks diminish continuously. The militia's strength ends at the town gate. Outside the town wall, nobody is safe from the bandits' armed raids. There is war in Khorinis. A civil war.
