New reports from market research company DFC Intelligence forecasts worldwide video game industry revenue to reach $57 billion in 2009, including revenue from video game hardware and software, consoles, handhelds, PC games (including MMOs). There are currently 11 countries that have annual video game revenue in excess of $1 billion.

The Last Remnant is Square Enix's latest single-player RPG game, powered by the Unreal Engine 3, scheduled to be released in Japan and North America simultaneously, with two main characters, each one appealing to a specific territory.

The Dualshock 3 wireless controller will be available at European retailers July 4, 2008 for £39.99. Incorporating both the rumble feature and motion sensing SIXAXIS technologies for a more realistic, interactive and intuitive gaming experience, the Dualshock 3 replaces the SIXAXIS controller as it's being phased out.

Last week, Dutch police's Team High Tech Crime arrested 20-year-old MaddoxX in Maastricht, charging him with hacking into a Valve file server and stealing credit card information from Steam Cyber Cafe users, as well as an Activision server where he downloaded and leaked an early version of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. MaddoxX first came into the news when he publicly posted credit card numbers and account balances after he had contacted Valve about their network vulnerabilities.
