Nintendo GameCube has become the hottest selling video game console in America since its price was reduced to $99.99 on Sept. 25. Sales data from the week ending Oct. 4 reported from major Nintendo retailers indicates that Nintendo GameCube is currently outselling Sony's PlayStation 2 by 20 percent, and Microsoft's Xbox by 145 percent.

Consequently, Nintendo now claims the two best-selling video game systems in the country. The Game Boy Advance portable system continues to outsell each console, as it has done all year long.

GarageGames announced today has launched the official Demo of the Torque Game Engine version 1.2 on Windows, OS X and Linux. The Torque Game Engine (TGE) is a commercial quality AAA game engine available to Independent game developers (those making less than $500,000 annual income) at a special license price of $100. TGE is the game engine that powers Tribes 2 developed by Dynamix. TGE features the latest in scripting, geometry, particle effects, animation and texturing, as well as award winning multi-player networking code.

Eidos Inc. has shipped to stores the highly-anticipated PlayStation 2 version of Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home across North America. Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft will begin to arrive in major retail outlets across the US on Monday, October 13th.

The game is developed on original high-tech engine The Firestarter Engine, which uses the possibilities of the latest accelerator generation GeForce3/4. Among the engine possibilities are work with outdoor and indoor areas, coloured dynamic lighting, dynamic shadows, vertex and pixel shaders, T&L, procedure textures, various classes of particle system-based effects, interactive and destructible level objects, realistic physics, high-polygonal character and monster models (up to 5000 of polygons), skeleton animation. Codemasters today confirms that Wartime Command: Battle For Europe 1939-1945 is the new title for Battlefield Command, the stunning World War II tactical real time strategy game from Russian developers 1C Company in Russia. The game development project has been retitled from Battlefield Command to give it prominence in a cluttered market of similar product brands. Wartime Command will launch for PC in the spring of 2004.
