Following its rich tradition of intelligently crafted gameplay and wry humor, LucasArts announces Armed & Dangerous, a blast-happy action game about a smack-talking group of gun-toting rebels, a ridiculously impossible quest, and weapons that cause really, really big explosions. The game is being developed in conjunction with Planet Moon Studios and is expected to release winter 2003 for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft and PC.

Codemasters has confirmed that IndyCar Series, the official video game of the U.S. open-wheel Indy Racing League, has gone gold. The title will ship to retail outlets nationwide for the PlayStation2 on May 20 – prior to the Indianapolis 500 (Indy 500), the largest attended one-day sporting event in the world. Dedicated versions for the Xbox and PC-CD ROM to follow shortly.

Empire announces that it has finalised the launch plans for PS2 budget titles in 2003. The budget line up will launch with six titles from last year including Victorious Boxers, Kuri Kuri Mix, Driven, Wild Wild Racing and Endgame as well as Psyvariar, an arcade shoot'em-up previously unreleased in Europe. The new titles will retail at the £14.99 price point. Further titles have also been signed for roll-out in release batches scheduled throughout the remainder of 2003.

While there is nothing sure in this world, this is especially true in the world of gaming. Release dates are notorious for often slipping. No one, from the waiting gamer to the publisher, likes the fact that a game is delayed but sometimes nothing can be done to prevent this occurrence. This time it's Shrapnel Games' highly anticipated first boardgame, Mark H. Walker's Lock 'N Load, that has been delayed. Originally slated for release on May 5th, the game is now expected to ship later in the month.

Electronic Arts and LEGO Interactive today announced that BIONICLE, a fast-paced action adventure platform title based on one of the LEGO Company's most successful play materials of recent years, is under development.
