Sony Online Preparing For New 'EverQuest II' Update

SOE announced their preparations for the 19th update to EverQuest II, slated to launch on game servers Feb 2. This update will bring significant changes to the game, and is a precursor to the launch of the new Player vs. Player game servers, scheduled for late February. Microsoft Rolling Out X360 Patch Through Xbox Live

Xboxic received word that Microsoft is diligently working on a patch to fix various issues with the Xbox 360. "An inside source at Microsoft informed us that Microsoft is currently finishing off one huge update for the Xbox 360 that is going to put an end to all the common problems in both games and the system itself. It will contain fixes for all currently known lockups in games, missing or impossible to get achievements and a bunch of new functionality in the Dashboard." A Call of Duty 2 X360 patch is also expected to be released next week.

'Battlefield 2: Deluxe Edition' Revealed

Both EBGames and GameStop today adding product listings for a yet unannounced Battlefield 2: Deluxe Edition product. No details are provided but the Battlefield franchise is not unfamiliar with bundles as has been proven in the past. BF2 Deluxe Edition most likely combines the original Battlefield 2 and its recently released Special Forces expansion pack, all patched up to the latest version (maybe even the new v1.3). Both online retailers seem to differ regarding release date as EBGames has it pegged down for end of March, while GameSpot lists May.

'SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate' Goes Gold

'TimeShift' (Xbox/X360/PC) Demo Coming Monday

Atari will release a one level singleplayer demo for its time-controlling FPS on Monday January 30. In the Timeshift demo you need to infiltrate a heavily guarded building in order to make contact with a rebel on the top floor. We will of course have it on our fileserver network as soon as it's released.

'Left Behind: Eternal Forces' Gets Delayed

Based on the blockbuster apocalyptic series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, Left Behind: Eternal Forces is an RTS game allowing you to join the Tribulation Forces and participate actively in the battle of good versus evil. In order to release a first-rate game that will compete at the highest level with other mainstream RTS titles on the market the title will now launch the second half of 2006.

Back in December Vivendi revealed that it would include Even Balance's anti-cheat protection, Punkbuster, in the new patch, a much requested feature by the community. A couple wees ago Vivendi's Community Manager Greg revealed that the F.E.A.R. v1.03 patch was coming soon, but so far is a no show. Earlier today Greg gave an update, "I am very happy to report that the patch is nearing completion and contains many sizeable enhancements and features. In a short period of time we will be able to reveal the full details of the patch."

Xbox 360 Launch Slightly Delayed In Australia and New Zealand

Microsoft today announced a new launch date in Australia and New Zealand for the Xbox 360. The new launch date is 12:01am on March 23 2006. The delay is caused by short-term manufacturing issues due to component shortages stemming from challenges in ramping supply and will ensure that the markets will have an adequate supply of Xbox 360 consoles to meet demand at launch.

City of Los Angeles Files 'GTA: San Andreas' (PS2/Xbox/PC) Lawsuit

Los Angeles city attorney's office has sued the makers of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for allegedly hiding pornographic material inside the video game, officials said. Rocky Delgadillo said his office sued Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two for making misleading statements in marketing the game and engaging in unfair competition.
