by Rainier on Nov. 27, 2001 @ 8:50 p.m. PST

Ubi Soft® Entertainment, a world leader in interactive entertainment, today announced the signing of an agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products for the Charlie’s Angels license. This worldwide agreement provides Ubi Soft with the exclusive rights to develop and publish Charlie’s Angels video games on Nintendo GameCube™, Nintendo GameBoy®Advance, Microsoft Xbox™, Sony PlayStation®2 and PC platforms. The licensing agreement includes the rights to the television series, the film released in 2000 and the rights to the first sequel.
Millions of people have already seen the 2000 film adaptation of the cult series, which blends action and comedy with great panache. The film’s success brought in $264 million in worldwide box office sales. Charlie’s Angeles features three smart, but tough female detectives who solve cases in a fast-paced, action-packed story filled with humor, heroics and drop-dead beauty.

"The Charlie’s Angels games will enable us to attract a broad audience comprising individuals who are already fans of the license: the series is enormously popular with the over-25 age group. And the license lends itself particularly well to the video game medium,” explained Yves Guillemot, President of Ubi Soft.

“Charlie’s Angeles is a popular generational TV series and a franchise that has worldwide appeal,” stated Al Ovadia, Executive Vice President, Sony Pictures Consumer Products. “The Ubi Soft deal will help us leverage the property in a category that’s ideal for this target audience.”
