THQ Inc. today announced the latest interactive installment of the Matchbox brand, Matchbox Cross Town Heroes for Game Boy Advance and PC. The videogame adventure takes place in a dynamic world in which players take the wheel and courageously “drive” Matchbox search and rescue vehicles into the heart of the emergency action. Matchbox Cross Town Heroes is scheduled for release in summer 2002.
“THQ is excited to be bringing the Matchbox interactive world to life this summer,” said Peter Dille, Vice President, Marketing, THQ. “For 50 years Matchbox has proven their commitment to making products that empower kids and THQ is looking forward to adding a title that features Matchbox’s positive themes of search and rescue to our leading kids lineup.”

In Matchbox™ Cross Town Heroes™, young game players will take the wheel of popular Matchbox vehicles like the Fire Crusher™ or Rescue Net™ Police Car in three extensive worlds. Players can drive and explore amazing interactive environments to search for new emergencies. Every time a new world is visited, the location of the emergency tasks will be different, allowing for endless replay. Each world will also feature bonus mini games and puzzles along with more than 50 different characters, animals and creatures. Upon completing emergency tasks, players will earn hero awards allowing them to unlock new vehicles and earn printable certificates of heroic achievement.
