'Advent Rising' (Xbox) Million Dollar Xbox Live Contest Launches Tomorrow

by Rainier on June 8, 2005 @ 9:07 a.m. PDT

Advent Rising is a 3rd person, action/adventure game presented in a stunning cinematic format that delivers an unprecedented variety of addictive game play experiences. Built on the Unreal Warfare Engine, it offers precise, refined play-dynamics with action-packed adventure and style, wrapped in a visually imaginative universe. Advent Rising is akin to a fast-paced action movie where the player is swept up in a continuously evolving series of sequences and events.

Made possible through Xbox Live, the contest offers eligible consumers who find hidden 'A' icons within the game, the ability to win hundreds of weekly prizes and one grand prize of $1,000,000. The contest applies to the first 500,000 Xbox copies of Advent Rising and consumers shouldn't wait as many retail outlets are sold out of the game.

Leading video game consumer magazine, GamePro, gave Advent Rising a 4.5 out of 5, earning the magazine's coveted "Editor's Choice" award. GamePro said, "This game makes you believe all the lip-service rhetoric about video games maturing into a genuine art form, because it puts its effort where its mouth is."

"Initial consumer response and buzz surrounding Advent Rising has been impressive and we expect it to continue as we roll out our extensive marketing and promotional campaigns," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing for Majesco. "We are excited to team with Microsoft on such an innovative promotion in which we watch gamers compete to become a millionaire and win tons of other great prizes via Xbox Live."

$1,000,000 -- And How to Get It

The contest commences tomorrow and is limited to the first 500,000 copies of the game sold. Consumers who purchase specially marked packages of Advent Rising will receive a free, two-month subscription to Xbox Live to participate in the contest, or they may use their existing account. Then, once a week for six weeks, an "Easter egg" in the form of the letter 'A' will be downloaded via Xbox Live and hidden within a level of the game. Majesco will publish clues on the contest website and distribute to the media as to which level the icon resides in and then the race is on.

Once the egg is found, consumers will be given a code and prompted to log into the contest website using their Xbox Live Gamer Tag. The first person to do so is that week's winner. The contest is open only to US and Canadian residents (void in MD, VT and in Quebec) who are 13 years or older. The contest ends August 15, 2005. Complete contest rules can be found online at http://www.adventtrilogy.com/contest.

Hundreds of Weekly Prizes

Over the course of six weeks, players can also compete for cash and prizes, with one Grand Prize winner receiving a $1,000,000 annuity, payable in twenty equal installments of $50,000 each. Hundreds of great prizes include:

  • Six weeks of cash prizes totaling $10k, $20k, $30k, $40k, $50k, and in the final week, the Grand Prize of $1,000,000;
  • 12-month Xbox Live subscription cards from Microsoft;
  • SoBe refrigerator and a one-year supply of SoBe drinks;
  • SoBe guitars, golf bags, MP3 players, and more;
  • Advent Rising strategy guides from Brady Games;
  • Officially licensed Xbox controllers from Radica.

Developed by GlyphX Games, Advent Rising is available now for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft and for PC later this year. For more information on Advent Rising, visit .the official Advent Rising website.
