Energy-Inefficient Video Game Consoles Cost $1 Billion Per Year

More than 40% of all homes in the USA contain at least one video game console, adding up to serious demand for electricity. A study by NRDC and Ecos Consulting on the energy use of game consoles reveals that they consume an estimated 16 billion kilowatt-hours per year, enough to power the city of San Diego for an entire year, while more user-friendly power management features could cut the nation's electricity bill by more than $1 billion per year.
