60 Nations Prepare For The World Cyber Games Grand Final

World Cyber Games (WCG) announced today the official 100-day countdown to the 10th WCG Grand Final, the premier international video game competition and festival, which will be held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The  WCG 2010 Grand Final will feature gamers from more than 60 respective countries of gamers battling to be crowned champion in 10 Official Game Titles and two Promotional Game Titles including ‘FIFA Soccer 10’ and ‘League of Legends’. Each participating country is conducting preliminary rounds and a respective National Final to find the best gamers to represent them in this major event. Considered as the globe’s largest competitive video gaming event, the WCG 2010 Grand Final is the ultimate proving ground for the world's elite gamers. This year's event will have a worldwide prize purse of around $250,000 at stake.

“Over the past 10 years, we have seen tremendous growth and interest in the World Cyber Games,” said Hyoung-Seok Kim, CEO of World Cyber Games, Inc. “As gaming has evolved into a core part of mainstream culture, WCG has broadened its appeal by expanding to computers, mobile devices, and gaming entertainment consoles and will feature more than 500 players and tens of thousands of spectators at the Grand Final. Bringing the Grand Final to LA, home of many major game developer studios, promises to be one of best WCG events to date.”

As part of the WCG 2010 Grand Final experience, WCG is hosting an international Torch Relay through Asia, Europe, and the Americas.  Voting for the U.S torch bearer will open on June 28 at official WCG website (www.wcg.com). 

Along with the WCG 2010 Grand Final, the second season of WCG Ultimate Gamer, a reality TV program on Syfy, will be filming the season finale on location at the Grand Final to name ”Best All-Around Gamer” and award $100,000 cash, and the “Ultimate Samsung Electronics package.”  The show takes a dozen top-notch video game players, drops them into an L.A. loft where they live together and compete to be the next Ultimate Gamer.

Founded in 2000 to bring different cultures together through competitive gaming, WCG has positioned itself as one of the largest and most respected gaming organizations in the world.

During the WCG 2010 Grand Final, spectators will experience the competitive energy and atmosphere of eSports while interacting with new technologies and products of WCG partners including Samsung’s yet to be released mobile phone, Galaxy S line.

Last year, more than 82,000 people attended the Grand Final in Chengdu, China. Some of the world's greatest cities have played host to the Grand Final premier event, including: Seoul (2003), San Francisco, USA (2004), Singapore (2005), and Cologne, Germany (2008). This year, the WCG returns to the United States as Los Angeles, California plays host to the WCG 2010 Grand Final.

For this year’s tournament, the line-up includes popular titles such as “Warcraft III,” “Counter-Strike,” and “Guitar Hero 5.” In addition, the WCG 2010 Grand final tournament will include world famous racing game “Forza Motorsport 3” and fighting game “Tekken 6.”
