'Peggle 2' (XOne) Patching In Duels Multiplayer Mode

by Rainier on Dec. 10, 2013 @ 3:31 p.m. PST

Peggle 2 provides the peg-popping joy of the original and introduces new levels, power-ups, multiplayer modes, game customization options, Kinect gesture controls and more.

Peggle 2 features the peg-popping greatness of the original with plenty of new features and fun. Peggle 2 offers 60 levels, 60 trials, Peg Party multiplayer action, and four all-new Peggle Masters and power-ups.

Just as in the classic original, Peggle 2 combines elements of pinball, pachinko and billiards and adds liberal doses of whimsy, fun, excitement and challenge – not to mention rainbows and a fifth of Beethoven.

Having missed the originally planned Xbox One launch, Peggle 2 made it out on Xbox Live yesterday (Dec. 9, 2013) and Popcap producer Jared Neuss revealed some details on what's to come next.

So, now that Peggle 2 is out in the world, what are we doing? While I can’t reveal too much, I’m happy to announce that we’re currently focused on bringing you a multiplayer mode that may sound familiar to Peggle veterans: Duels! This new mode will enable players to compete against each other, in the same room or across the Internet, head-to-head on the same board. We loved Duel mode in the original Peggle and can’t wait to bring it into the updated world of Peggle 2!

We’ll be announcing details soon, but rest assured that we’re working to bring you Duels as soon as we possibly can. For free. Because free is rad and you fine folks deserve it.

I’m also happy to announce that Duels are just the beginning. There are lots of surprises in store for Peggle 2 fans and we’ll be bringing you regular updates as we continue to expand and add to the world that we’ve built. In the meantime, we’d also like to get together with you for a community gaming night, where the Peggle dev team faces off against fans in a few friendly-and-not-at-all-incredibly-competitive rounds of Peg Party. More to come on that as we lock down dates and times.

Peggle 2 comes initially with five Peggle masters / power-ups, with more coming in future content updates.

Returning from the original Peggle is Bjorn the unicorn, whose Super Guide power-up displays the path of the ball's first bounce (enhanced and improved compared to the original Peggle). The four new Peggle 2 masters are as follows: Berg, a lovable yeti whose Deep Freeze power causes pegs to slip and slide into each other, often with devastating chain reactions; Gnorman, a small gnome with big dreams and a power (Uber Volt) which supercharges the ball with electricity that lances out to strike two additional pegs for each hit peg; Jeffrey, a laid-back troll with a Bowlder power-up that smashes through pegs and bricks with crushing finality; and Luna, a mysterious, but loveable ghost girl whose Nightshade power turns blue pegs into spectral shadows through which the ball can pass to reach difficult orange pegs — while racking up all the points from phantom blue pegs to boot.

Key Features:

  • Five Peggle Masters, each with multiple costumes
  • 60 all-new gameplay levels
  • 60 all-new trials
  • 180 objectives
  • Achievements and 1,000G to collect
  • Peg Party mode for multiplayer fun!
  • High-Definition graphics and orchestral audio specific to each Master
  • Kinect gesture and voice commands for in-game and menu controls (in some markets)
  • Save and share your best, craziest and most amazing shots via Xbox One Game DVR and Upload (Xbox Live Gold membership required, sold separately)
