'Deadlight' to be Free via Xbox Live Games With Gold in the Second Half of April

by Adam Pavlacka on March 31, 2014 @ 9:10 a.m. PDT

In an apocalyptic world where there is no reason to exist, a man crosses the American west coast. Surviving is much more than a daily routine in this original cinematic puzzle platformer.

Yesterday, we revealed Hitman: Absolution as the first Games with Gold title. Today we can confirm that Deadlight is the XBLA selection for the latter half of the month.

Originally released on August 1, 2012, Deadlight tells the story of a lone survivor after a zombie outbreak. Haunted by fragmented memories, he must avoid danger while at the same time trying to discover the fate of his loved ones. Reviews on the game cited excellent atmosphere and presentation but generally agreed that the game suffered in execution. We gave the game a 6.5/10 in our Xbox 360 review. The Metacritic aggregate score for Deadlight is 68/100.

The current price on Deadlight is $14.99. As soon as the promotion goes live on April 16, the price will drop to $0.00 on for anyone with an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. 48-hour and 14-day trial subscriptions do not qualify for the free game.

You will be able to get the free game directly on your Xbox 360 console or via the Xbox.com marketplace.
