'Gears 5' (ALL) Introduces New Character, Lancer Variant

by Rainier on June 26, 2018 @ 1:25 a.m. PDT

Gears 5 is the next installment in the action series that revolutionized third-person shooters. Kait Diaz, who had previously fought alongside JD and Del in Gears 4, is the protagonist in Gears 5.

The world is crumbling. Humanity's reliance on technology has become their downfall and enemies are uniting to wipe out all survivors. As Kait you must journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears world to uncover the origins of the Locust, and fight with your squad to protect what's left.

Gears 5 developer The Kaolition just revealed an all-new character to the franchise, Fahz Chutani.

Not only that, Chutani is also sporting a yet unspecified Lancer variant weapon. The chainsaw is replaced by what could be a shotgun, grenade launcher, or even an overkill attachment.

Is this merely a new weapon being introduced, or a hint at a customization feature coming to Gears for the very first time?

While still obstructed by the Lancer, we can also get a somewhat better look at JD Fenix's arm. Something weird going on there as well..

Key Features:

  • Never Fight Alone. Play solo or with a friend in local split-screen co-op, or online co-op. Battle alongside your friends anywhere with cross-play between Xbox One and PC.
  • Explore Sera. Skim across glaciers, sail over deserts and descend into sunken ruins to discover the largest and most diverse Gears world ever created.
  • Visual Showcase: Play every mode in 4K Ultra HD resolution with stunning HDR at a smooth 60 frames per second.

Additional features, co-op and competitive modes still to be announced.
