'H1Z1' (ALL) Gets PS4 Launch Date, Reveals New Features

by Rainier on July 26, 2018 @ 3:49 p.m. PDT

H1Z1 is a large-scale, high-intensity multiplayer shooter comprised of a variety of new fight-to-the-death game modes.

You drop into a high-intensity, arena-style grudge match. You activate your inner beast mode, gear up fast, throw together a game plan, and jump into the fray, ready to see if you have what it takes to be the last man standing. Whether you’re racking up a kill streak or just adding to the chaos, you’re ready to spill blood. After all, dying is for losers.

H1Z1 is being developed as a fast-paced shooter that will be comprised of multiple fight-to-the-death game modes, including Battle Royale. Players will compete in large-scale chaotic PvP spectacles of skill, wit, and a little luck, where everyone must fight to the death to stand alone at the top of the podium.

Will you be the type to hide among the berry bushes, letting most of the crowd thin themselves out before you join the ruckus? Or are you going to dive in, guns blazing, adding kills faster than you can count? Which weapons will you grab first, and what other supplies will help take you to victory? Battle Royale game modes are all about scavenging and strategy (and, yes, a little bit of luck and a whole lot of crazy).

Daybreak Games announced that H1Z1: Battle Royale for PS4 is leaving Open Beta and officially launching as a free-to-play game on August 7!

H1Z1’s official launch will include a host of new features and in-game content, including:

  • Two New Weapons: The explosive RPG and deadly SOCOM Sniper Rifle add new tactical layers to H1Z1’s fast-paced gameplay
  • New Vehicle: The ARV fits an entire fives squad, with a pop-out hatch for your team’s best marksman
  • Battle Pass Season 1: Players can now unlock new additional content across 3 distinct reward lines (free, premium, and PS Plus)
  • Two New Launch Bundles: Gear up with the Hardline Deluxe Bundle or kung-fu inspired Viper Starter Bundle for max character customization
  • Additional Performance Optimizations and more: Weapons, movement, airdrops, and loot distribution have all been tuned and improved
  • Balance Changes
    • The Hellfire will do less damage overall, and have an even stronger damage fall-off at distances beyond 50 meters
    • M40 headshots will be fatal, even through helmets
    • Crossbows with explosive arrows will do less splash damage
  • Tier Changes
    • The AR-15 will be moved to ground loot
    • Crossbows with explosive arrows will be moved into Green airdrops
    • The SOCOM will be found in Purple airdrops
    • The M40 and RPG will be found in Gold airdrops

On launch day, your open beta account level will be replaced with your Battle Pass season level on launch day. This level will reset with each Battle Pass season, and players can earn new Battle Pass rewards every season as they play and progress through the levels.

H1Z1 is now available for PC ($19.99 through), free to play on PS4, with an Xbox One version to follow later.
