by Rainier on Nov. 8, 2019 @ 1:10 p.m. PST

Halo (working title) will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.

Earlier this year  Showtime announced that the network has ordered a 10-episode season based on the legendary video game franchise!

Kyle Killen (Awake) will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct multiple episodes and also executive produce the hour-long series, which has now begin production.

Showtime announced new additions to the show’s cast, with Danny Sapani, Olive Gray, and Charlie Murphy joining the show.

Sapani will play war hero and caring father Captain Jacob Keyes, with Gray playing his daughter, Dr. Miranda Keyes, a UNSC Commander dedicated to understanding the technology, language and culture of the Covenant.

Murphy will play Makee, an orphaned human who was raised by the Covenant and shares their contempt for humanity.

Halo will be executive produced by Killen, Wyatt and Scott Pennington, along with Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank for Amblin Television. The series will be distributed globally by CBS Studios International.
