'Apex Legends' (ALL) Player Progression Changes, Gun Charms, BD-1 Skin, Merch Shop Now Live

by Rainier on Dec. 4, 2019 @ 6:21 p.m. PST

Set in the Titanfall universe, Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale game with a cast of unique characters, squad-based gameplay, innovative mechanics and more.

Apex Legends delivers a squad-based battle royale experience with a uniquely Respawn flavor. Players will select from one of eight Legends - each with their own unique abilities and playstyles - and the last team standing wins. Combatants can choose from unique characters like Bloodhound, the tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map, or Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can shield teammates and bring them back from the brink of death. Balanced squads and teamwork are critical, as each Legend is easy to pick up and learn, but challenging to master.

Apex Legends showcases several new genre-leading innovations, starting before players even start the match. Once players are ready to begin, they’ll choose their drop point with the Jumpmaster system, giving each squad full control over exactly where they drop in. Is it smarter to head straight for the most valuable loot and risk early conflict with other teams, or make for one of the outlying areas to plot an attack and let other squads pick each other off?

Apex Legends is ringing in the holiday season with a series of new updates including a re-worked progression system that raises the level cap while rewarding players with more free Apex Packs. Also, to celebrate the launch of Jedi: Fallen Order, Apex Legend players will be able to unlock a BD-1 inspired Pathfinder skin by simply logging into the game. Finally, look good in the Apex Games with the launch of the Apex Legends merch & apparel shop.

Player Progression - Starting today, the player level cap will be increased from 100 to 500 giving players the ability to earn 199 Apex Packs as they progress to the highest level. The new progression system also changes the rate at which players level up to level 100, streamlining the new player experience. Players under level 100 as well as those that have been at the level cap will be awarded Apex Packs retroactively according to the new progression system and level cap. Players will also earn a new badge every 10 levels from levels 110-500.

  • Player Level cap increased from 100 -> 500
    • XP required to hit level 100 has been reduced by approximately 5% to smooth out per level XP increases
  • Players can now earn 199 Apex Packs by level 500 (previously 45)
    • Level 2 - 20: One pack every level
    • Level 22 - 300: One pack every two levels
    • Level 305 - 500: One pack every five levels
    • You will continue to earn 600 Legend Tokens per level
    • Apex Packs rewards will be retroactive
  • Players will also earn a Player Level Gun Charm every 100 Player Levels

Under the old system, there was a large increase in XP required at level 26. Under the new system, we’ve reduced the rate at which XP required to level up increases from levels 20 to 58. The net impact of this change is that the XP curve should be softer for new players, meaning they will get more rewards, faster through level 58. Additionally, the total XP required to hit level 100 will be reduced by approximately 5%. Because XP requirements are being reduced, players between levels 20 and 99 may find they are a level higher after this change goes live, if they were close to leveling up. These XP changes will have no effect on players already at level 100.

The maximum XP required per level will remain at 18,000 starting at level 58 (26 in the old system) and will remain constant through level 500.

Gun Charms - Players will also be able to collect 36 new Gun Charms to customize their favorite weapons available through Apex Packs at Epic and Legendary tiers. Unique Player Level Gun Charms inspired by the new level badges can be earned by players at levels 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500.

  • Gun charms will now appear in the Rotating Shop for players who prefer direct purchase

Celebrating the Launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - In celebration of the launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, we’re releasing the BD-1-inspired, “BP-1 Pathfinder skin.” To claim the skin, simply log in to Apex Legends from December 3 – January 14. Congratulations once again to the Jedi team here at Respawn, and may the Force be with you all!

Apex Legends Merch & Apparel Shop - Players can give the Legend on their gift list this holiday season official Apex Legends merch from the newly launched Apex Legends shop, including Apex hoodies, Octane t-shirts, travel mugs and more items.

The innovations don’t stop there as Apex Legends also delivers Respawn Beacons, one-time use locations where defeated teammates can be revived, a contextual Ping communication system that allows players to call out enemies, weapons, locations and more with the push of a button, and an intelligent inventory system which automatically attaches gear and equipment to the appropriate weapons once players pick them up. All together it creates a battle royale experience unlike any other, complete with Respawn’s commitment to top-notch quality and fun.

Apex Legends is now available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
