'A Plague Tale: Innocence' (ALL) Monsters Trailer Has Creepy Crawlers Lurking Around Every Corner

by Rainier on May 6, 2019 @ 8:29 a.m. PDT

A Plague Tale: Innocence offers an adventure supported by an original scenario, with gameplay that blends action, adventure and stealth phases.

Join orphan siblings Amicia and young Hugo as they struggle to find shelter through the heart of a brutal and ruthless world, in which millions of rats ravage the Kingdom of France - already beset by war and the Black Death.

1349. Rats swarm in uninterrupted waves throughout the territory of medieval France as war rages. In the disease-devastated villages, countryside and fields of battle, this uncontrollable and voracious mass advances relentlessly. The creatures devour everything in their path, men and animals alike, to satisfy the endless hunger of their ever-increasing numbers.

Environments range through medieval castles and villages, catacombs, wasteland battlefields, and verdant forests - each with its own unique look and feel. Characters will react with real emotion to the situations around them, be it Hugo’s fear at his unfamiliar surroundings or the determination of Amicia to save her little brother.

A Plague Tale: Innocence tells a grim and emotional story, sending us on a journey through medieval France, with gameplay blending adventure, action, and stealth, supported by a compelling, moving story. Follow Amicia and Hugo De Rune, two lost children trying to survive a harsh, brutal world plagued by the Black Death. On the run from the Inquisition, and surrounded by the unnatural swarms of rats that appeared with the disease, Amicia and Hugo embark on a rocky journey that will not leave them unscathed.

Your enemies are everywhere - inside stately homes and lordly cathedrals, down to the very dregs of the world in cellars and basements. Showcased today in our new “Monsters” trailer, while the deadly swarms of rats consume all they come across, harrying Amicia and Hugo’s long journey, far more familiar foes pick their moment to strike with more care. The English army, local brigands and, worst of all, The Inquisition and their mysterious master, Vitalis. All pursue the siblings with a deadly enthusiasm, spurred on by unknown forces.

Lord Nicholas, the commander of the Inquisition’s forces, is the helmeted face of fear for the local populace under the boot heel of his army, and for Amicia and Hugo as they flee. He is brutal and uncompromising, willing to do whatever it takes to complete his mission to capture and return the siblings to his master. Strong, fast, with zealots at his every beck and call, he will be a formidable and merciless foe.
