'Civilization VI' (ALL) New Frontier Season Pass Adds Mayan Nation - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on May 14, 2020 @ 3:34 p.m. PDT

Sid Meier's Civilization VI is a turn-based strategy that offers players new ways to interact with their world, expand their empire across the map, advance their culture, and compete against history’s greatest leaders to build a civilization to stand the test of time.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI sets another milestone in the Civilization franchise, which has sold-in over 34 million units worldwide and changed the gaming landscape by bringing the strategy genre to unparalleled heights.

In Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, cities will physically expand across the map to create new, deep strategic layers, active research in technology and culture will unlock new potential ways to play; and the large variety of leaders will pursue their own agendas based on their historical character traits as players race to achieve victory however they choose to play.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass is a new season pass that brings eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, six new game modes and more to the critically-acclaimed strategy game.

The first DLC offering, the Maya & Gran Colombia Pack, will add leaders from each respective civilization, a new Apocalypse game mode, new City-States, Resources and Natural Wonders, and will launch on May 21, 2020

Today we’re revealing a First Look at one of the two leaders included in the pack – Lady Six Sky of the Maya civilization; here’s some key information as related to Civilization VI.

Lady Six Sky does not rely on the traditional sources of fresh water to establish her close knit empire, instead she capitalizes on a network of Farms and Plantations to reach for the stars.

The Maya plan out their settlements differently than other civilizations. They look to get their housing from Farms rather than being near Fresh Water. Settling adjacent to luxuries provides them with additional amenities as well. Lady Six Sky wants to keep her cities close to her capital. So settle an early cluster of cities and defend them strongly with your Hul’che atlatlists. With properly placed Observatory districts receiving extra science from adjacent Farms and Plantations you can start to race ahead of the other civilizations in technology, rocketing your people into space or providing a significant boost toward another victory.

Anyone who purchases the Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass will receive exclusive bonuses - the Teddy Roosevelt and Catherine De Medici Persona Packs. Each Persona Pack contains a brand-new take on a favorite leader, with a new leader model and background, new gameplay bonuses and an updated agenda that reflects the changes to the leader’s personality. “Rough Rider Teddy” excels at keeping the peace on his home continent, while “Magnificence Catherine” can use Luxuries to overwhelm the world with Culture and Tourism. The Persona Packs will be available with the second DLC Pack in July.

As part of the overall content roadmap for Civilization VI, Firaxis will also provide free updates in between DLC packs that feature new maps, scenarios, balance updates and more, available for anyone who owns the game.

The Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass content will be released in six downloadable (DLC) packs delivered on a bimonthly basis starting May 21, 2020 through March 2021 for $39.99 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac and Linux, with mobile platforms arriving later this year. Each individual DLC pack will also be available for individual purchase.

Key Features:

  • EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain;
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures;
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations;
  • COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units;
  • ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session;
  • A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS: Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems are designed to introduce new players to the underlying concepts of Civilization so they can easily get started on a path to victory.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
