'EverSpace 2' Early Access Update Adds New System, Story, Ship, Companion, Puzzles And More, 2022 Roadmap Preview - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 3, 2021 @ 6:00 a.m. PDT

In contrast to the roguelike concept of its predecessor, EverSpace 2 is an open-world space shooter with classic RPG elements and persistent player progression, as well as a much larger number of player ships and significantly enhanced storytelling.

Set in a persistent open world, it is driven by a captivating sci-fi story that picks up shortly after the events of its predecessor, but instead of the previous roguelike game mechanics, the focus in EverSpace 2 will be on open world gameplay combined with classic RPG elements and extended storytelling.

Thanks to the expanded perks and a brand new class-based player ship system with dozens of models, players can also fully customize their spaceship to their individual playing style with weapons, plating, and equipment, similar to classic RPG character development. Despite all the innovations, EverSpace 2 remains true to its space shooter core and presents fast-paced space action in the well-known EverSpace style.

The story of EverSpace 2 continues from its predecessor, as you continue the story of Adam Roslin, one of the surviving cloned military space pilot. The player is faced with the remnants of his past: the cloning program has been canceled, the colonial authorities have placed a bounty on him,

Players will experience Adam’s journey as he learns what it means to transition from a clone with unlimited lives, yet persistent memories, so now that dying means the ultimate death the search for the meaning of life suddenly takes on a whole new importance. Adam’s journey will be shaped through meaningful relationships with interesting companions as he discovers that life is only worth-living if there is also something worth dying for. Fate, however, has big plans and soon the player discovers what it means to evolve from a former military clone to a truly real person.

EverSpace 2 not only creates a powerful gaming experience, but also one that is visually impressive in the beautiful infinity of space where breathtaking cinematic scenery invites - encourages - exploration.

Hot off their EverSpace 2 launch on Xbox Game Pass for PC, developer Rockfish Games has released Khaït Nebula: Stranger Skies, the latest Early Access update for their spacefaring looter shooter.

The Khaït Nebula is the strangest star system players have yet to discover in the EverSpace 2 universe. Filled with mysterious artifacts, bizarre creatures, and hints about the history of the precursor race known as The Ancients, there’s a lot to discover in space and on planetary locations.

Picking up where the last update’s story left off, EverSpace 2 players can now discover a new faction, alien life forms, and another companion in the latest star system. They’ll also gain access to a new player ship class, perks, puzzles, and more. The Khaït Nebula is filled with a whole host of space faring wildlife as well as The Redeemers, a cult of researchers turned to the worship of The Ancients.

Khala, the Navigator, joins the party after encountering her during the main quest line. She comes from a previously unmet alien species and brings special expertise to the crew, unlocking  additional details on the star map for completionists and jump nodes for shortcuts through space, namely: Fast Travel.

The new Vindicator Heavy Fighter type ship class switches it up with high mobility and a focus on using drones to deal damage. The Vindicator’s drone focus is supported by its expertise and abilities which increase drone hull hit points, synchronizes attacks, and reanimate destroyed enemies as new drones.

In the 2022 roadmap preview, Rockfish Games reveals that the next update is scheduled for spring, next year. It will feature another star system but no additional story content as the remaining third of the campaign is being saved for the full release. However, in the spring update space pilots will get a glimpse of the endgame as well as the third light fighter subclass, so there will be plenty of new content to explore.

Furthermore, UI and text language support for German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Czech, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean will be added in this update per high demand from the international EverSpace 2 community.

Every Friday, the RockFish Games team shows off content from their latest EverSpace 2 dev build on the RockFish Games Twitch and YouTube channel from 8 pm to 10 pm CEST / 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST / 11:00 am to 1:00 pm PST. Viewers even have the chance to ask questions directly to various members of the dev team, while the CEO and co-founder, Michael Schade, is almost always moderating both chats.

EverSpace 2 is currently available through Steam Early Access, Xbox Game Pass for PC and GOG Games in Development for $39.99 / €37.99 / £31.99.

EverSpace 2 is coming to PC (Windows, Mac, Linux), Xbox and PlayStation in early 2023. and comes with UI and text language support for German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian, simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
