'Warhammer 40,000: Darktide' Collaborating With Acclaimed Warhammer Author Dan Abnett - Trailer

by Rainier on June 3, 2021 @ 10:15 a.m. PDT

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a four-player co-op game set in the 41st Millennium, taking you deep into the hive city and facing hordes of enemies you have only seen in your nightmares.

Fight together with your friends against hordes of enemies in this new Warhammer 40,000 experience.

In the depths of the hive, the seeds of corruption threaten an overwhelming tide of darkness. A heretical cult known as the Admonition seeks to seize control of the planet Atoma Prime and lay waste to its inhabitants. It is up to you and your allies in the Inquisition to root out the enemy before the city succumbs to Chaos.

Players will not be able to hide behind lethal ranged weapons, they'll need to combine both FPS and melee skills as they get up close and personal in visceral clashes between Imperium and Chaos factions. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will bring everything you have come to expect from the developers of the multimillion selling award-winning Warhammer: Vermintide franchise.

Fatshark is bringing their co-op gameplay to the 41st Millennium and, with the help of Dan Abnett, the developer is confident it’s bringing the best possible 40,000 experience to gamers.

Dan Abnett is well known in the Warhammer universe for his best-selling novels. He’s also renowned for his work in the comic book industry, which includes projects that have become major Hollywood movies, and for his award winning game work. For Warhammer characters, swords are often the most powerful weapons, but in Dan’s case the pen is mightier.

“Dan Abnett has over two decades of experience working with Warhammer 40,000, and we are thrilled to collaborate with him and give players the game they deserve.” says Martin Wahlund, CEO and Co-Founder Fatshark

Working with Fatshark has been fantastic” says Dan Abnett. “It’s great to partner with them and see their amazing skills create the universe of Warhammer 40K in vivid, realistic and interactive ways. Things I’ve only imagined before, or created in prose, are exploding into life.”

Dan Abnett is a multiple New York Times bestselling author and an award-winning comic book writer. He has written over fifty novels, including the acclaimed Gaunt’s Ghosts series, the Inquisitor Eisenhorn Cycle, and volumes of the million-selling Horus Heresy series.

His many other novels include The Silent Stars Go By (Doctor Who), Rocket Raccoon and Groot: Steal the Galaxy, Triumff, and Embedded. In comics, his 2008 run on The Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel formed the inspiration for the blockbuster movies. He is also noted for significant work on DC’s Legion of Superheroes, Justice League and Aquaman and, for the Vertigo imprint, The New Deadwardians.

A regular contributor to the UK’s long-running 2000AD, he is the creator of series including Brink, Grey Area, Feral and Foe, Lawless, Kingdom and the classic Sinister Dexter.

He has also written extensively for the games industry, including Shadow of Mordor and Alien: Isolation.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be coming to PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X in 2021.
