Crossfire: Legion is a futuristic, action-packed, modern take on the classic RTS genre.

Prime Matter and Smilegate are teaming up for a new franchise, Crossfire: Legion, a futuristic, action-packed, modern take on classic RTS from Canadian-based RTS specialist studio, Blackbird Interactive.

Blackbird Interactive was founded in 2010 by Rob Cunningham, a former art director of Homeworld 1 and 2 and formed with a group of industry professionals who participated many hit games, such as Gears of War and Company of Heroes.

The new title was one of the key reveals when Koch Media launched its new premium gaming label and will see Prime Matter responsible for physical and digital distribution of the title across PC and console platforms.

Operating out of Koch Media's headquarters in Munich, Prime Matter is comprised of seasoned industry veterans and enthusiastic fresh faces creating a diverse team of multicultural gaming experts.

Prime Matter and Smilegate are announcing that Crossfire: Legion will enter Early Access on Steam in Spring 2022.

Going into early access will allow players, across the world,  to experience a true modern day action RTS - with a historical nod to the original games that defined the genre – allowing them to shape and define the game; from game modes to maps and units.

"RTS gamers know what they want and what a modern-day game should deliver. Who better to make sure that we are in synch? We are offering all fans of the genre the chance to be involved in how we grow the game. We have some great features and game modes to reveal to you over the next months and look to add a wealth of content as we enter early  access”.

The developers have also unveiled a roadmap outlining all the upcoming activities ahead of the early access launch, including a new third faction.

Players who would like to get into the action can do so by signing up for the chance to join the Technical Test where they have the opportunity to choose from one of two factions - Blacklist or Global Risk – along with the respective commander. They’ll then be able to battle it out across two very diverse maps in either 1v1 or 3v3 multiplayer.

Crossfire: Legion has a launch window of 2022.
