'Lucky Tower Ultimate' Steam Early Access Update #2 Adding New NPCs, Quest, Items. QoL Improvements And More

by Rainier on Feb. 20, 2025 @ 3:08 p.m. PST

Lucky Tower Ultimate is a slapstick, roguelike slashy slash adventure that looks like a cartoon and feels like a joke.

Embark on a quest with the delightfully narcissistic knight, Von Wanst (gorgeous hair), as he attempts to free himself from a perplexing tower. Explore a labyrinth of unpredictable outcomes filled with deadly traps, monsters, and even other prisoners to join in the escape.

Lucky Tower Ultimate is a roguelite adventure game infused with slapstick humor and a hand-drawn aesthetic, where each run feels like an immersive cartoon. It continues the cult classic Flash game series about choosing between three mysterious doors. The Lucky Tower beckons seasoned fans and new players alike to experience the unique pleasure of getting all geared up just to slip on a banana peel and die.

In this twisty tale, your decisions are the key to multiple ways to end the run — each more complex than the last. Everything and everyone reacts to your actions, for better or worse. Selfishly slash your way down and use companions to your advantage, or safely reach civilization together.

Every door, every step, and every battle is an invitation to embrace the unexpected, where you can never truly prepare for what’s coming next. Acquire potions, armor, or magical treasures to sow mayhem on the next floor and discover the secrets buried within the Lucky Tower.

Lucky Tower Ultimate is the first premium game in the Lucky Tower series, and it’s a true culmination of all the goofy jokes, quirky characters, and deadly perils enjoyed tens of millions of times over in the days of Flash gaming. Continuing its trademark design of presenting three mysterious doors on each floor, the tower beckons new and returning fans to experience the joys of getting all geared up... just to slip on a banana peel and die.

Lucky Tower Ultimate inconspicuously released the second Steam Early Access content update, called Content. Yep. That’s the name, and they’re sticking to it. New content includes: A new NPC called the Pipefitter that allows players to bring more items from across the tower and into the village, The Bard, who plays terrible music and offers a deadly quest, new traps, unique rooms, tower architecture, new Steam Achievements, and more.

Chosen by the community, for (and to spite) the community by way of voting, the “Content” Update contains this curated collection of characters and chaos:

The Pipefitter

A team of industrious sisters in the village that let you carry more tower items outside. Build chutes to use inside the tower to transport items to different segments in the same run. Convenient!

The Bard

Complete the Bard’s calamitous quest that results in what could be considered a criminal activity, locate his corpse in the tower (found in new, random places every run) to find a new instrument or other useful item from his pockets. Creepy!

Snowy & Puffles

Inspired by one from the original Lucky Tower web game, a trap involving three doors with names above them. Choose one and choose carefully - this door closes behind you and you’ll face whatever is in it. It might be a harmless snail, a peasant companion, or a tough enemy. Choices!

The Pipes

With the Pipefitter’s arrival comes more visible piping, but it’s horrible. They shake, collapse, and can contain a range of materials ranging from corrosive to inconsequential. Crappy construction!

Bear Trap, Rake

Exactly what it sounds like in a cartoon context. Clear and classic!

Additional content includes:

  • Commentary in 270 new voice lines
  • Compartments, unique rooms: Machine Room & Spike Room
  • Cool cuts: The Barber now sells beards
  • Culture via new, weird architecture all over the tower
  • Collectible new Steam Achievements
  • Auto coin collection and quality of life improvements

Key Features:

  • From broccoli to dead enemies, everything in the game can be used as a weapon
  • A village for commerce and meta-progression awaits you outside the tower
  • Companions reacts to the way you treat them - friends turn to foes if you step on their toes
  • Endgame for those who seek to truly become the ultimate knight
  • Randomly generated levels and haircuts keeps every playthrough fresh
  • A hero that makes dying fun
  • Hand-drawn 2D graphics
  • Full voice acting makes for kickin’ times and smashing punchlines

Lucky Tower Ultimate is in development for PC (Steam), scheduled for 2025.
