Following the million-selling Transport Fever 2 in 2019, the new chapter in the Transport Fever series delivers the most ambitious and immersive transport tycoon game yet with a Simship release.
Transport Fever 3 challenges players to design, build, and manage transport empires spanning railways, roads, shipping lanes, and air routes across 4 distinctive environments: temperate, desert, tropical, and new sub-arctic. Each of which offers a unique set of challenges and gameplay possibilities thanks to massively upgraded terrain generation. Players build their worlds using vehicles covering a century of transport innovation with over 250 authentic trains, buses, trams, trucks, trains, ships, planes, and, for the first time, helicopters.
At the heart of Transport Fever 3 lies a dynamic, fully simulated world occupied by settlements and industries that evolve in response to player actions. Every town can grow into a sprawling city, every supply line can affect reputation, and every decision affects how people live, work, and move.
The wait-time for passengers is too long and every service is overcrowded… The fish brought in by ship is rotting in the warehouse… These, and other problems will confront players in their quest to maximize profits.
Whether a newcomer or a veteran tycoon, Transport Fever 3 invites all players to reshape the world one connection at a time.
Modding has always been at the heart of the Transport Fever series. Urban Games is taking modding support to a completely new level with the introduction of the Curated Mods Program. The Program gives some of the best modders in the genre early access to the game, allowing for an exciting selection of high-quality, developer-supported mods to be available already on launch day. Urban Games is now accepting applications for new participants and will continue to expand the Curated Mods Program beyond release. Additionally, Urban Games announced today that confidential closed beta tests for consoles are starting soon, with a strong focus on overall stability and performance, to take even more community feedback on board.
With more than 15,000 individual mods currently available in the Steam Workshop from modding communities around the globe, Transport Fever 2 has long been known as an exceptionally modder-friendly game. Transport Fever 3 expands on this legacy by providing an even more powerful toolset for modders, with nearly every new feature developed having moddability in mind, and mods available cross-platform through the in-game mod hub. This time, Urban Games takes things further in order to ensure that players can tailor their experience from day one. A hand-picked selection of several dozen well-known modders from Transport Fever 2 and related titles has been working closely with the team on new content as a part of the Curated Mods Program since early 2026. Players can look forward to an international and iconic selection of mods available in the mod hub from day one of the game’s release later this year.
To incorporate even more community feedback, the first of these mods are already being tested in-game as part of Urban Games’ closed beta program, with the latest PC round concluding a few days ago and the first console beta just around the corner.
The Curated Mods Program allows the best modders to create mods in close collaboration with the Urban Games development team. They receive dedicated support, get early access to the game and have the chance to influence the final part of modding-tool development with their feedback and expertise. At the same time, they are honoured by Urban Games with a financial grant and their mods will be specially marked in-game so that new and veteran players alike are able to spot these highest quality mods at first glance.
Besides providing very interesting mods already on day one, Urban Games will also continue the Curated Mods Program after release to guarantee an even bigger stream of new mods and most important, to give back to the Community. The Curated Mods Program is not just focused on purely new vehicles and assets, but also on script-mods, savegames and even localizations. There will be a much bigger selection of mods for consoles, due to the fact that Transport Fever 3 is one of the very first games to feature a fully automated mod-approval system. This system has been developed in close collaboration with Sony and Microsoft, allowing for less restrictions and more creative freedom for mod authors.
In order to take part in the Curated Mods Program, modders must fulfill a selection of different criteria, such as a proven track record of very well rated and popular mods for either Transport Fever 2 or similar games in the genre. The exact specifications and a form to apply can be found here.
Urban Games’ community support does not just stop there. To gather and take on board even more feedback, several rounds of closed beta testing with thousands of invited participants have been held already, with a new one focusing on console players starting soon. The Transport Fever series has seen a big growth also in the console player fanbase, making it even more important for Urban Games to have the best possible product ready for the simultaneous day one launch across all platforms.
Urban Games development of Transport Fever 3 is built on the proven success of previous titles, encompassing fan feedback and observed player behaviour. This is why tycoon gameplay has taken priority in the new title. The game provides an engaging and evolving challenge to players by incorporating a full suite of difficulty customization options. Player actions significantly impact the growth of individual cities. The reputation of players is crucial to progress and growth overall. Noise, pollution, congestion, wait times, cargo, and passenger deliveries directly affect how cities evolve, leading to individual cities developing character as play progresses.
Building world-renowned landmarks, upgrading or optimizing routes, and designing cargo hubs with dedicated warehousing becomes critical for players keen to maximize success.
This focus on gameplay has greatly increased the depth of Tycoon Mode while also extending the learning curve. New players will find the first steps toward a profitable transport empire easier to achieve, while veterans will appreciate the need to regularly revisit routes that, historically, would have printed money permanently. The new Contracts feature supports players early on and challenges them later, balancing tempting rewards with potential risk.
For those who want a structured challenge, the new Campaign Mode presents multiple scenarios based on real-world history. Those more interested in building beautiful maps and networks can create anything they can imagine in the Sandbox Mode, which will be extended further still thanks to integrated cross-platform modding support.
Not only has gameplay seen major improvement, Transport Fever 3 also delivers long-requested community features like day-night cycle, offshore industries, and new forms of transport including helicopters and cargo-trams.
