Staying an old-school roleplaying game at heart, ATOM RPG 2 allows for much greater player involvement, with base building, fishing, racing, weapon and vehicle manufacture and modification, trading and plundering across a much more interactive world map, as well as many other side activities you will discover in your new adventure.

These additions go hand in hand with a greatly improved ATOM RPG roleplaying system that now allows you to actively use many of your skills in the world, ride or drive vehicles, and fight truly tactical battles with vertical level design, cover mechanics, and the added ability to climb.

The world of ATOM RPG 2 is set in the Caspian Wastes, a vast new region built around the colossal ruins of the First City of the Future, where innovative systems of control and social engineering were tested before the bombs fell. Now the past is stirring once again. Will you bury it for good, reshape it to fit the new order, or choose another path altogether?

As you travel through the different biomes of the Caspian Wastes, you will discover settlements, ruins, dangerous routes, and stories both large and small. Some of your choices will affect individual lives... others, whole communities.

As AtomTeam's Atom RPG 2 Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign comes to a close (less than 24 hours to go to raise $58,529.

ATOM RPG 2 is being built as a real-time third-person open-world RPG, since we are aiming for a more hands-on, immersive feel and experience, truly making the world your own.

The Caspian Wastes are huge with their hulking, seamless 35x35 kilometer world map full of dynamic events, battles, vehicles, mounts, secrets, not to mention possibilities to build, trade and create whole factions. Third-person real-time gameplay lets us bring all of that closer to the player.

This direction also lets us make combat more direct and personal. Positioning, timing, weapons, armor, skills, companions, terrain, and prep time all become part of the moment-to-moment experience. A fight can begin as a careful ambush, turn into a chaotic shootout, and end with you barely escaping in a damaged vehicle while the world keeps moving around you.

You just can't do this in turn-based.

But will it impact the cRPG heart and soul behind the game?

Of course not!

Equipment, skills, dialogue choices, impact of your companions, and every other cRPG aspect players loved in our first games will all be there, merely reworked to exist inside a world that reacts faster, feels bigger, and gives the player more freedom in how every situation unfolds.

A game where you can be a smooth talker, a scavenger, a sniper, a mechanic, a trader, a brute, a survivor, or something else entirely (no spoilers though, for now).
