'Far Cry' TV Series Adds Emmy Award Nominee Lizzy Caplan To Its Cast

by Rainier on June 25, 2026 @ 10:11 p.m. PDT

Chaos and a gleeful descent into madness await as FX has placed a series order for Far Cry to stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.

The limited series from Executive Producers Noah Hawley and Rob Mac, with Mac set in the starring role, is based on Ubisoft’s video game franchise of the same title and the series will retain Far Cry’s signature standalone storytelling format, with each season set in a new setting following a new cast of characters.

The project comes from longstanding FX producers Rob Mac, Creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Executive Producer of the Emmy-winning Welcome to Wrexham, who is producing through his production banner More Better Productions, and Noah Hawley, who recently signed a new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television. Hawley, producing through his 26 Keys production banner, created FX’s Emmy-winning anthology series Fargo and Alien: Earth for television.

Lizzy Caplan plunges into the insanity of FX’s “Far Cry” in the new anthology series based on Ubisoft’s video game franchise, which will be available on FX, Hulu and Disney+ internationally.

Lizzy Caplan most recently starred in Netflix’s six-episode conspiracy thriller “Zero Day” and the FX limited series “Fleishman Is in Trouble,” earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress. She also led the Paramount+ series “Fatal Attraction,” appeared in the Lionsgate thriller Cobweb directed by Samuel Bodin, and starred in Showtime’s critically acclaimed drama “Masters of Sex,” for which she received both Emmy and Critics Choice Award nominations.

FX’s Far Cry will be executive produced by Rob Mac, Noah Hawley, Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television. The series will be produced by FX Productions.

Rob Mac

Emmy-winner Rob Mac is the creative force behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the acclaimed FXX comedy he stars in, writes, and executive produces. Shattering records as the longest-running live-action sitcom in TV history, Sunny remains a global cultural juggernaut for its unapologetic satire of human nature, most recently returning with a two-part Abbott Elementary crossover spanning Abbott’s fourth season and Sunny’s seventeenth. The show’s eighteenth season is currently in production.

Mac is also the co-creator and star of FX’s Emmy-winning docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, chronicling his and Ryan Reynolds’ stewardship of Wrexham AFC. The duo have led the club to a historic rise, including an unprecedented three consecutive promotions culminating in the EFL Championship. The series has earned multiple Emmys and Critics Choice honors, with its fourth season recently released and a fifth set for Spring 2026.

Additionally, Mac executive produced and appears in FX and Disney+ Latin America’s bilingual docuseries Necaxa, following his, Reynolds’, and Eva Longoria’s latest football venture with Mexico’s Club Necaxa during a turbulent and transformative chapter. The series debuted in August 2025.

Rob Mac, Nick Frenkel and Ubisoft Film & Television previously worked together on the series Mythic Quest - centered around a fictional team behind the biggest multiplayer video game of all time - for four seasons, and the spin-off anthology series Side Quest for Apple TV+.

Noah Hawley

Noah Hawley is one of the most accomplished auteurs and versatile storytellers working today across television, film, and literature. Hawley balances the art of cinematic storytelling with unforgettable characters that linger long after you’ve been immersed in them. Over a career spanning more than two decades, Hawley has earned widespread critical acclaim and passionate global audiences, receiving an Emmy®, Writers Guild, PEN, Critics’ Choice, and Peabody Award, among others, for his achievements as a novelist, screenwriter, series creator, showrunner, and director.

Hawley is the creator, writer and showrunner of Alien: Earth, the critically acclaimed original FX television series based on the iconic film franchise that debuted in August 2025 on Hulu and FX.

Under his 26 Keys banner, Hawley also continues to helm the acclaimed FX anthology series Fargo, serving as executive producer, writer, showrunner, and director. Across its five chapters, Fargo has earned 70 Primetime Emmy nominations and won seven. Hawley is also the visionary behind FX’s genre-defying series Legion. His feature film directorial debut, Lucy in the Sky, was released by Fox Searchlight in 2019.

Hawley began his television career as a writer and producer on the hit series Bones in 2005, and went on to create, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for ABC’s The Unusuals (2009) and My Generation (2010).

As a best-selling author, Hawley has published six novels: A Conspiracy of Tall Men, Other People’s Weddings, The Punch, The Good Father, New York Times Best Seller Before the Fall and Anthem, which garnered acclaim as one of the most ambitious novels of 2022. In addition, Fargo: This Is A True Story, a companion book to the first three seasons of the series and authored by Hawley, was released by Grand Central Publishing.

Legion, Fargo, and Alien: Earth are produced under Hawley’s Austin-based 26 Keys Productions banner, which established its headquarters in downtown Austin in 2024. In 2025, Hawley was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame.
