As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

6. 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2' (Switch)

by Judy on Feb. 15, 2021 @ 12:00 a.m. PST

In addition to the vast lands of Hyrule, The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom will take you up into the skies and an expanded world that goes beyond that!

Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: A lot of Breath of the Wild 2 is still steeped in mystery. We know it's a sequel to the original game, and it features Link and Zelda once again. While exploring an underground dungeon, they awaken what looks like the corpse of Gannondorf and set off a new wave of evil. As of this writing, that's about all we know. We can expect that it will include the same survival-oriented gameplay as the first game and new features to boot, but we'll have to wait and see what that means. Fortunately, Breath of the Wild was such an excellent title that we can be sure it'll be worth the wait.

Cody Medellin: The first Breath of the Wild gave the old console one last huge game to hang its hat on while ushering people toward new hardware. Whether this game is going to do the same for a possible Switch successor or even the heavily rumored Switch Pro remains to be seen, but even if none of that comes to pass, just having more adventures in what was one of the more ambitious series titles to date is exciting for Nintendo fans. We're hoping we'll hear more about it this year.

Rhi "StormyDawn" Mitera: Breath of the Wild was my favorite Zelda game since Ocarina of Time. It's one of the games that really did right with the open-world setting in that it made you want to explore rather than feel like you had to. There isn't much known about it yet, but even if Breath of the Wild 2 only offers more of the same, it will still be a fantastic game.

Adam Pavlacka: It's Zelda. Do I have to say anything more? Over 20 million copies of the game have been sold, so a lot of people have played Breath of the Wild, and most of those folks are looking forward to the sequel. Based on ideas that didn't quite make it into the original, Breath of the Wild 2 promises to build on the foundation set on the prior game. While it would have been nice to see a fresh take on Hyrule, I'm also curious to see where the team takes the sequel. Will it be vastly different, like the transition from The Legend of Zelda to The Adventure of Link, or will it end up feeling more like a master quest version of Breath of the Wild?
