For the past week, Square Enix has been
teasing about a new upcoming game, but the latest issues of Shonen Jump and Famitsu beat them to the punch in revealing Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden for NDS. A turn-based RPG that puts you in the role of a 14-year-old boy on a mission to rescue a princess from a wicked witch, Final Fantasy Gaiden no longer features a menu-based combat system but uses "charges"; you'll team up with others in a four-character squad customizable with a variety of weapons and armor.

Renegade Kid, known for Dementium the Ward and Moon, is not only working on a sequel to its horror/action game, but also has a second project in the works, Maximillian and the Rise of the Mutant Mudds. The new game is a platformer, where the player will use a waterpack to double-jump chasms and squirt enemies to death. It might be a download-only title to avoid expensive retail packaging costs.

JAKKS Pacific has notified WWE that the joint venture between THQ and JAKKS intended to exercise its option to renew the WWE video game license for another 5 years, which is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2009. However, THQ has filed a lawsuit in California Superior Court, Los Angeles County, claiming it was not ready to make a decision with respect to renewal of the license, and is seeking a declaratory judgment that JAKKS was not authorized to unilaterally issue a renewal notice.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, sequel to Naughty Dog's 2007 PS3-exclusive action/adventure game, revolves around 13th century explorer Marco Polo, putting the focus on story, stealth gameplay and a free climbing mechanic.
Last month Naughty Dog launched a multiplayer beta, and having learned from that experience, plans for a second MP beta were revealed, which will be available to an even wider group this time.
