Need for Speed is not dead. EA announced that no less than four new titles are in development for the franchise over the next 12 months as the property expands to new platforms, new categories and new media.

Earlier today, rumors started flying around the internets that Disney Interactive Studios had fired over 50 employees of British Columbia-based studio Propaganda Games, known for last year's Turok and currently working on two unannounced titles, but while DIS itself confirmed layoffs, it insisted that fewer than 30 people were let go. At the same time, DIS revealed that it was going to consolidate its Salt Lake City-based studios Avalanche Software (Chicken Little/Bolt) and Fall Line Studios (Chronicles of Narnia), which resulted in another 20 people getting the pink slip.
