2K Sports announced details on Team 2K, an elite group to be composed of the best players for both NHL 2K9 and NBA 2K9. Every week a dedicated player will be chosen to join Team 2K during a 10 week online contest beginning at launch for each respective title on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

Following rumors from earlier today, Microsoft confirmed it has decided to close Ensemble Studios following the completion of Halo Wars. Ensemble Studios, founded in 1995 and best known for the Age of Empires series, has laid off non-essential employees and plans on shutting down after completion of Halo Wars according to online reports. We contacted Microsoft and Ensemble but so far have yet to receive a reply.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation focuses on online play and the global community and clans that support it, with Tournaments, Clan Ladders, and Leader Boards. Due to overwhelming demand, the SOCOM beta servers choked, causing abnormal latency, disconnects, long load times, login errors and community features such as clans and stats not functioning correctly. A 1.10 patch has been issued to addresses a number of stability and late joining issues.
