VU Games announced today the formation of a new division, Vivendi Universal Games Mobile, dedicated to publishing games for the emerging mobile games market. VU Games also named Paul Maglione, who moves from a major mobile games publisher, as President of VUG Mobile.

JoWooD and developer Piranha Bytes have narrowed down the Gothic III launch dates, scheduled for release in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in September, while UK, and the rest of Europe, has a more ambiguous Q3 2006 launch date. Previously listed as Q1 2006 by US publisher Aspyr, it looks like Gothic III has been pushed back.

X-Men: The Official Game ties in with the upcoming movie X-Men: The Last Stand and provides the backstory. The new X-Men game, written by screenwriter Zak Penn and comic book writer Chris Claremont, lets you play as either Wolverine, Nightcrawler, or Iceman.

THQ announced that it has released a multiplayer demo for Relic Entertainment's action game The Outfit. The demo will allow you to experience one of The Outfit's multiplayer maps with up to eight people battling it out online over Xbox Live. Gamers can also download the multiplayer demo to their Xbox 360 and go head-to-head with a friend via Split Screen.

Bethesda Softworks announced today that the its survival horror game, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth for the PC will ship to North American stores the week of March 27th, while Ubisoft will release it in Europe starting March 24th 2006.
