THQ Snags 'Stuntman 2', Paradigm from Atari

THQ today announced the acquisition of the Stuntman franchise from Atari. Stuntman 2 is currently in development for next-generation systems at Paradigm Entertainment, creators of titles such as T3: The Redemption and Mission: Impossible: Operation Surma. Additionally, THQ has exercised its option to acquire Paradigm and expects to finalize the transaction in the coming weeks.

Publishers and developers worldwide will release more than 100 new Nintendo DS games in 2006. Nintendo will be releasing some big fan favorites, including the New Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Donkey Kong: King of Swing DS, and more. The NDS Lite is set to launch on June 11.

Previously announced a few weeks ago, it was revealed today that Eidos has signed 300: March to Glory for distribution in North America and Europe. In the game, players take on the role of King Leonidas, who leads the brave 300 Spartans against Xerxes and his massive Persian army.

Activision Acquires RedOctane

Take 2 Opens Shanghai Studio

Take 2 today announced that it has opened a new development studio, 2K Shanghai. It is completing development of the Chinese-language version of Sid Meier's Civilization: IV for the PC, expected to be available later this summer. 2K Shanghai will develop new original IP and co-develop products with other 2K studios around the world.

Blizzard Inks 'Warcraft' Movie Deal

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Pictures has purchased the rights to create a live-action film set in the Warcraft universe. The movie would not follow the plot of a particular game but would aim to appeal to both gamers and non-gamers. In conjunction with Warner Bros. Studios, Legendary has recently co-financed films such as "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns."

PSP 'Greatest Hits' Program Announced

Sony today announced the launch of the first "Greatest Hits" for the PSP system. The initial selection includes five first-party titles – Ape Escape: On the Loose, ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee, Twisted Metal: Head On, and WipeoutPure – that will be available for $19.99 SRP on July 25. Nearly 15 third-party games will be added to the roster in the future.

New 'Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles' Titles (Wii/NDS) Unveiled
