According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft plans to pay $200 million to $400 million for Massive, a company that places ads in video games. Although both parties declined to comment, this acquisition could lead to ads in Microsoft's Xbox Live service.

EA Settles Engineer Class Action Lawsuit on Overtime Compensation

Electronic Arts today announced a settlement on overtime wages for current and former programmers of its California studios. Under the agreement, claims will be dismissed, and EA will make a $14.9 million payment to cover claims by the class members, plaintiffs' attorney fees, incentive payments, and administrative costs.

Oklahoma Senate Unanimously Approves Video Game Bill

According to GamePolitics, Oklahoma senators unanimously passed HB3004 yesterday, 47-0, a bill which considers games and pornography to be in the same category. This bill amends an existing law, which prohibits anything "harmful to minors," to encompass "inappropriate violence." The bill also unanimously passed through the Oklahoma house in March, so its next stop is the desk of Governor Brad Henry. If Henry signs it, HB3004 will become law as early as November 1, 2006.

Atari today announced that Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is in development for the Nintendo Revolution and PS2. Combining action, fighting and light RPG elements, Budokai Tenkaichi 2 will send players into a rich story mode that spans the entire Dragon Ball, DBZ, and Dragon Ball GT series.

'Heroes of Might and Magic V' Goes Gold

Ubisoft today announced that Heroes of Might and Magic V has gone gold and is scheduled for release in North America on May 23, 2006. Developed by Nival Interactive (Blitzkrieg, Silent Storm, Etherlords), HoMM5 will be available in both standard and limited editions and will ship with a rating of "T" (Teen).

Huxley is a massively multiplayer online first person shooting game utilizing the Unreal 3 engine that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Human beings have mutated and are divided into two opposing races, Sapiens and Alternative, who are forced to battle against one another to gain control of the world and its resources.
