'Strategic Command WWII Global Conflict' Announced - Screens

For the first time, players will be able to wage World War II across the massive expanse of the entire planet. From battles in Europe and North Africa all the way to Asia and the Pacific, WWII Global Conflict features the largest map yet.

'Silent Hill' Movie Getting Sequel

While there is no word from TriStar whether they will commit to a follow up to the 2006 Silent Hill movie, which grossed $47 million in North America, screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida have signed on to work on a sequel based on Konami's survival horror video game. Davis Films plans to start shooting next year as it is currently working on Resident Evil 4, while Avary, known for collaborating with Quentin Tarantino on Pulp Fiction, is currently writing the script for Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the French studio.

Halo 3: ODST is a new game in the Halo saga that lets people experience events leading up to the epic story told in Halo 3 through the eyes of an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, as they search for clues leading to the whereabouts of their scattered squad and the motivations behind the Covenant's invasion of New Mombasa.

Original Lara Croft Creator Leaves 'Tomb Raider' Studio

Having created the Lara Croft character in 1996, Toby Gard left then-developer Core Design a year later to go his own way and released Galleon: Islands of Mystery in 2004. After that, he came to Crystal Dynamics as one of the senior designers on the Tomb Raider team, where he would complement the existing team and create Tomb Raider: Legend. Earlier this year, Gard became lead designer on an unannounced Tomb Raider project, and while he refused to comment as to the real reason, Gard insists the split was amicable. Gard is currently a freelance consultant, with a focus on animation, story and cinematic design, character design, game design and balancing.
