Nintendo was awarded an interim payment of $641,000 in a Game Boy copying case, with final damages yet to be determined. In one of Nintendo's most significant anti-piracy judgments ever, the High Court of Hong Kong ruled against Lik Sang International Limited, worldwide distributor of game copying devices capable of widespread counterfeiting of Game Boy software. In the recent decision, William Waung, Judge of the Court of First Instance, High Court, ruled in favor of Nintendo Co. Ltd and Nintendo of America Inc. against defendants Lik Sang International Limited and Visoly Limited, and their principals, Ahlswede Nils and Alexander Peter Kampl. Judge Waung ordered an interim payment of HK$5 million (US$641,000) be paid to Nintendo and further ordered them to pay Nintendo's legal expenses. The amount of actual damages will be awarded at a later hearing.

Atari will bring Terminator3: War of the Machines, a singleplayer and online multiplayer first person shooter set in the ravaged battlefields of the Tech Com-versus-SkyNet conflict from the Terminator world, to personal computer (PC) this winter. Currently in development by Hungary-based Clever's Games, Terminator 3: War of the Machines will allow up to 32 players to face off online as either technologically-advanced SkyNet Terminators or battle-hardened Tech Com Special Forces in an epic multiplayer struggle for supremacy.

In a global marketing first, the UK publishers of PlayStation2 game Virtua Tennis 2 announced they will be using trained homing pigeons to promote the video game to real tennis fans attending this year's Wimbledon. Twenty pigeons, spray-painted with the Virtua Tennis 2 logo and acting as flying advertisements for the game, have been trained to fly in and out of the home of British tennis during the tournament.
