Taking place in 1792, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles follows Richter Belmont as he battles to return Dracula to the oblivion from which he came. I've loved Castlevania since the moment I took Simon Belmont on his awkwardly difficult adventure through the castle to punch Dracula in the face, and while not every title in the franchise has been good, the 2-D titles remain some of the best offerings on their respective systems. Three-dimensional Castlevania games have always been a bit lackluster than their 2-D counterparts. While Symphonia of the Night or Dawn of Sorrow are considered among the best games on their respective systems, Lament of Innocence and Castlevania: 64 are generally held to be mediocre at best and borderline unplayable at worst. There's just something about the trip into 3-D that makes Castlevania lose its magic. Perhaps this strange curse is what made Konami decide to make the first Wii Castlevania title into something completely different. Castlevania: Judgment
Introducing the all-new Glyph attack system, players will be able to use special attack combinations as they attempt to defeat Dracula and his horde. Also introduced to the series are new outdoor locales ranging from forests to the ocean, giving players the chance to explore outside of Dracula's Castle. Konami America announced today Castlevania Double Pack (working title) is coming to the GBA. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow are combined onto the same GBA cartridge, letting Castlevania fans experience twice the amount of evil and adventure in one convenient game package.

Dimension Films has closed a North American distribution deal on "Castlevania," a thriller based on the Konami videogame franchise that Paul W.S. Anderson will adapt and direct. Dimension Films closed a deal Monday morning at 2:30 with Crystal Sky Pictures' Steven Paul and Benedict Carver, who'd just bought rights from Konami.

Crystal Sky Pictures has bought the rights to Konami's Castlevania videogame franchise and has tagged Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien vs. Predator, Res. Evil) to adapt and direct. The Castlevania movie will focus on the origins of Dracula and the uprising of the Belmont Clan, a vampire-slaying family who supposedly become humanity's last hope. Crystal Sky is currently in the post-production stage on Ghost Rider, starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes. Castlevania production is slated to start in mid-2006; no casting has been announced yet.
