In a somewhat surprising move, it seems that the long time Tony Hawk developer Neversoft may have taken over development of the Guitar Hero franchise. Harmonix, known for the first 2 Guitar Hero titles, but also Karaoke Revolution, is rumored to move its resources to an all-new IP. Guitar Hero II is going to be rocking a new stage! RedOctane announced today that the Guitar Hero crew will bring their award-winning tour to the Xbox 360.

During a keynote speech at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia XV Conference, Activision CEO Robert Kotick revealed that Guitar Hero will be appearing on every significant new format, with the intention of releasing yearly updates. While the PS2 edition is scheduled for November, rumors have been going around that certain game stores received word that the Xbox 360 version might launch early 2007.
