Realtime Worlds, UK developer known for Crackdown and currently working on APB (All Points Bulletin), apparently has no trouble finding extra development monies, as it previously bagged $33 million in funding, and has just
received another $50 million from Maverick Capital. Realtime Worlds is founded by David Jones, one of the original Grand Theft Auto creators and the Lemmings franchise. APB combines the open ended (online) world on GTA mixed with the combat seen in Crackdown.

In an interview with Develop Magazine, RealTime Worlds producer Phil Wilson said the team is "heartbroken" that there won't be a Crackdown 2. By the time Microsoft approached RealTime Worlds to talk about a sequel, the team had already moved on to "bigger, better things," probably referring to APB, or its confirmed, but yet to be announced, secret title. Depending on who owns the naming rights, this means Microsoft might ask some other team to look into a sequel, or the issue will be revisited at a later time.
