Been making my way through the single-player portion of Battlefield 3, and while I enjoy it a lot, there also seems to be an equal amount of frustration. For starters, your squad AI seems to be either blind or use bent barrels. They miss enemies that are right in front of them, rendering them all but useless. The gameplay variety — tank battles, dogfighting, bombing runs — gives it a nice change of pace from the infantry-style battles.
Apart from meeting up with some friends for pub food and beers, we have no particular plans today, so errands and DVR watching it is!
Watched the newest episode of Sons Of Anarchy last night and must admit that there seems to be a lot more action going on than last season. Good stuff!

The long weekend has come to an end, only for us to start packing for our New York trip tomorrow. It's a six-hour flight, so we leave bright and early, and arrive mid-day, giving us time to start exploring the city already. Statue Of Liberty, meeting with friends, US Open Tennis, more sightseeing, and plenty of food: It all sounds like fun to me.
Yesterday's BBQ was awesome, the weather looked crummy in the morning, but everything cleared up by noon and the sun was out in full force. One of our friends brought bacon-wrapped scallops, which were the hit of the event, hands down. So tasty!
Apart from the recent
Falling Skies, Steven Spielberg seems to be working on yet another TV series,
Terra Nova, which is premiering later this month. Looks like a mix of Stargate sci-fi and Jurassic Park, so that sounds like a good combination.

Well, once again, a little nap lasted longer than it should have ....
The weather is still amazing, nice and warm with a little breeze to bring in some fresh air now and then. Forecast says it's going to be like this for the rest of the week. Excellent! Time for the lawn chair on the patio!?

This weekend has been filled with watching movies. Love it! So far, we've seen
Skyline (yuck!),
X-Men: First Class (really good),
Black Death (not bad), and
Ip Man (movie based on the legendary story of Bruce Lee's grand master). We were supposed to be going hiking, but after we ate breakfast (at noon), we got a sudden case of the lazies and decided to stay home. Yeah, we're dedicated all right!
Tonight is the season finale of
Game Of Thrones (oh, the suspense!) and the two-hour premiere of
Falling Skies (this better not disappoint).
In between all the movie and TV watching, I've played some APB Reloaded (yesterday s**ked, got my ass handed to me all day long), and Duke Nukem Forever (hmm, not too thrilled with it, too much idling and vent crawling).

Well, my tinkering with the new quad core came to a screeching halt today. I managed to find an IDE to SATA adapter at Fry's, but I couldn't get it it work properly despite its fairly simplistic installation. The PC wouldn't recognize it at all, and then for some reason, it wouldn't even boot up anymore. This turned out to not be true at all, as my monitor just decided to have hiccups and turn black. Bottom line, I put my old dual core back together, so that I at least have a workstation, and I'll try again this weekend, when I have more time.
Been playing some APB, Stronghold Kingdoms and War Inc. and watched Game of Thrones.
If you are up for a good laugh,
check this out (SFW, but you may not be able to control the giggling fits).

That was a pretty quiet news day. I guess some parts of the globe were still kicking back on Easter Monday, which gave me some time to play some more APB Reloaded. I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but the game plays a lot better than it did before. Whether it's improved vehicle control, physics or tighter combat, I'm liking it!
Last night we watched the first episode of HBO's new
Game of Thrones series, and while it has been mainly introducing the story and characters, quite a few interesting things have already happened. While we also enjoy the new
Camelot series, with or without the wimpy King Arthur, Game of Thrones already looks more promising after only one episode.
Joss Whedon started filming
The Avengers. Yay!

We saw
The Adjustment Bureau yesterday, and it was quite good. The chemistry between the two main actors (
Matt Damon and
Emily Blunt) was amazing. Comparisons to
Inception are warranted, but only in terms of the type of movie, because
Christopher Nolan's masterpiece is in a totally different league. Today we're heading out to the theater again to see Battle: L.A., which, according to box office predictions, is the #1 movie this weekend. Let's hope it lives up to expectations.
In case you had not yet noticed, we've been giving away download codes (PSN, XBLA, Steam) on
our Twitter feed for various games, and I wanted to send congrats to the Beyond Good & Evil HD winners, especially
this guy for being creative.

Luckily, yesterday's tsunami warning wasn't as severe as first feared. However, it was wicked to see how an earthquake thousands of miles away still has
an eerie effect hours later at the other end of the ocean. Glad to know that Hawaii was spared as well, since we are going there next year for our 10th wedding anniversary. At the same time, it is quite shocking to see the
devastating effects the tsunami had in Japan. It's baffling how some people watch it unfold in front of their eyes and then scurry off in a panic when they realize it's
real.
On a different note, last night, we went to the Asian Art Museum to watch a friend play the
gamelan in "
The Creatures of Balinese Mythology." Not really my cup of tea, but I persevered!

This is shaping up to be a busy movie weekend, with not only Netflix lying in wait, but we're set for both The Adjustment Bureau and Battle: L.A.

Happy Friday! On to the weekend!
It's the last day of GDC, so I'm going to rush through a few appointments, say hi to some people, and mayhaps check out a few games. It was oddly quiet yesterday, so hopefully it picks up a bit today.
This weekend, we're going to watch "The Adjustment Bureau" (new Matt Damon flick), but I'm REALLY looking forward to next week's Battle L.A. opening. I've been salivating over that flick for months now.
Last night we watched House, The Cape (which unfortunately got canceled, so cherish these last few episodes), The Good Wife and The Chicago Code.

It's not pretty out there. It's dark and gloomy, and there are high winds and torrential rain. I'm
so staying inside.
Not sure why
Ubisoft decided to release Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for PC. Most people who wanted it either picked up the console version or moved on to other titles. Then somebody over at HQ will probably wonder why it doesn't sell well ...
Later this week, we are going to be giving away a batch of beta codes for
Mythos. It'll be a first come, first serve, so keep an eye out. They'll be going fast!

Our night on the town is over. Good food, plenty of drinks (Jameson, Guinness, margaritas), and lots of inappropriate stories and comments, always make for a fun evening.
Prior to heading out, we quickly watched our favorite tennis player Kim Clijsters advance to the next round in the Australian Open. One step closer to winning the entire thing!
We'll soon be kicking off a new contest, this time giving away a ton of beta codes for Punchers Impact's
Crasher, a vehicular combat featuring MOBAs (multiplayer online battle arenas). If that sounds like it may be of interest, keep an eye out in the coming days.

Looks like yesterday's 100+ updates on my freshly installed gaming computer was not the end of it, as today two updates triggered the SP1, a subsequent 47 more patches, followed by numerous reboots, which in turn resulted in a 500 MB SP2. Maybe I'll be done in a couple of days. Who knows what's next?
In the midst of all the updating, there was very little time to play Vindictus (I finally started an alt playing as the new Evie mage character), but more time to watch TV. As if we did not have enough to keep track of, we added Blue Bloods (new cop series with Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck), as well as The Walking Dead (zombies!). Apart from a few episodes of the aforementioned shows, we also checked out the latest Fringe, Hawaii Five-0, Sons Of Anarchy and Weeds.

And here we go again, kicking off another week in style.
The world is full of surprises.
Jackass 3D earns more money than RED with major stars like Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and
Helen Mirren (known for
The Queen and
Elizabeth I). Even worse, it might break the record for highest-grossing October opening of all time. Don't get me wrong; we will most likely go see it at some point, but wtf? :)
We bought a new wireless router (
Linksys E3000) and set everything up. Our AppleTV is working like a charm, with no hassle whatsoever.

Quiet day yesterday due to some dude named Columbus discovering one country or another. Who knows? Not really observed in our parts (apart from banks and the postal service), but the East Coast seems to think it's a big deal.
Gave us a chance to catch up on Dexter (polished off season 3), some Smallville and Chuck. We finally dipped below the 50% mark on the DVR! Got some catching up to do on Criminal Minds and Leverage, but we might see about that later today. We've also got The Event lying around, and it is said to be catered to people who liked Lost, so it could be good ....

The weekend is upon us! Yay! More time to do nothing. :)
Apart from us going out on a fancy dinner date tomorrow, we have no special plans, so you know what that means: DVR time! Last night we watched an old episode of Southland, two hours of Hell's Kitchen, and the latest episodes of Sons Of Anarchy, Chuck and Castle. Unfortunately, by the time we were done, three new episodes had recorded, so we'll settle for a small dent this time around. We've also been neglecting Dexter, the last DVD of season 3 has been lying around for a week or two, so we'll probably polish that off as well.
Music-wise, we been listening to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (Beat The Devil's Tattoo is such a catchy tune) and Five Finger Deathpunch (preparing for the upcoming concert). Kind of disappointed that the "new" Soundgarden is nothing but a collection of old tracks, and I already had the "rare" ones ....

As predicted, the weather was much more tolerable today. It was sunny and warm but not sweltering, and there was even a nice breeze now and again.
Over the past two days, we've been play-testing a new title that's due for release soon, so we'll have some early coverage of that coming up, as well as an interview and, of cours,e a detailed review when it launches next month. Tomorrow, there's a Spider-Man gig in town, so we'll have a chance to check that out, and we'll have more on that shortly as well.
We watched the newest episode of Covert Affairs, and I have
The Crazies queued up for tomorrow.

We finished off LEGO Harry Potter earlier today, and while the LEGO franchise may not be on par with some of our other mature/action titles, it is always great fun to play. The Harry Potter game is a bit different from previous installments in the series, but it had us glued to the screen for hours on end, night & day, until we reached 100% completion. Good stuff ...
We have just received
Hauppage's latest HD PVR (Personal HDTV Recorder), allowing us to record direct footage from any platform, so we'll be tinkering with that over the next few days.

Since the laptop isn't exactly equipped for gaming, there will be no Crimecraft for me. :( I have checked out Rockstar's Facebook app,
Red Dead Redemption: Gunslingers, which is kinda cool to tide you over until the actual game comes out.
The latest news is that Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon is not only directing but also re-writing The Avengers — you know, that movie with Nick Fury, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America. I'm so looking forward to it already!
