It's an exciting day today! Lots of new games are due, such as Brink, The First Templar, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, MX vs. ATV Alive, Virtua Tennis 4, and a slew of others. Something for everybody, it seems. I'll be having a look at Brink, LEGO Pirates and maybe The First Templar. I like me some medieval hack 'n' slasher.
Contrary to previous years, we have a head start on E3. Most of our travel and hotel accommodations have been booked, and I even have the first appointment scheduled. Quite amazing, really.
My
MSi Geforce GTX-Ti 560 is working like a charm. The gameplay has been very smooth, and there aren't any overheating issues. It has my seal of approval, so if you are looking for an excellent graphics card, I can safely recommend that one.

Last night, we saw our friend perform stand-up comedy, and while most people in the lineup were quite funny, he did not have a good show at all. He's got the talent, but he's been trying to mix it up and putting an act together to set him apart from the pack, but unfortunately, it's not gelling yet.
Today, we have a full schedule, gfx card research, computer assembly, and watching Fast Five. Let's see how many things we actually get done by the end of the day.
Oh yeah, I'll also play some APB Reloaded and probably install and check out RIFT.

Sorry about the lack of news yesterday, but since it was April Fool's Day, a lot of the news stories are usually bogus. That also leads to people not really bothering with legit news items. I'm not a fan of April Fool's Day jokes, and I'm glad I managed to avoid them *knock on wood*, but I have to say that most of them were pretty lame anyhow.
Not much else happening. Played some Stronghold Kingdoms (our House was at war with two other teams, so had to keep an eye on my villages), a little bit of Homefront multiplayer (enjoying it despite the fact that it feels VERY much like Call of Duty) and DC Universe Online.
I have yet to figure out why Crysis 2 shuts down my system in the exact same spot every single time, but I'm going to try a few things to see if I can narrow it down. I bought some new thermal paste, which didn't resolve the issue, so now I'm going to switch out the graphics card, and if that does not work, I'll have to check the PSU and RAM. I also bought a water cooling system for the CPU, but I want to make sure it's not something else before I open the box and can no longer get a refund.

Sony got itself in a pickle yesterday. The hacker renowned for jail-breaking the iPhone managed to figure out the the security key that Sony is using for its PS3 authentication. This also turns out to be the sole key for all code signing, games and PSN — the whole nine yards. Now people can make their own homebrew software and sign it, and the PS3 will accept it as legit. Obviously the first thought that comes to mind would be for them to change the key, but that would render all old titles incompatible. Sony issued a cease and desist order to the hacker but managed to foul that up by not signing all the documents, so none of it has any legal standing. By filing paperwork in court, Sony then also listed all security keys, making them a matter of the public record. Way to go ...
A Carnegie Mellon University Computer Science professor exercised his free speech and
put up a mirror of the entire ordeal, daring Sony to take action.
