Last month Bethesda's PR guru
Pete Hines revealed that a patch for the X360/PC editions of TES4: Oblivion was in the works, fixing a number of issues that they found or were reported by the community. Since then it has been quiet on the progress but Pete finally confirmed that a beta patch will be released this week, and if all goes well (meaning no major bugs pop up), the final patch should be released in a few weeks.

Various online sources are claiming that a
leaked Bethesda release schedule reveals that The Elder Scrolls IV is headed for Sony's next-gen PS3 console, as well as its PSP, and would be scheduled for November 2006 (
thanks Modojo). When contacted, Bethesda's PR guru Pete Hines said there were no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than PC or Xbox 360. This doesn't mean it's
not true because if it were announced, it would not be a rumor. Bethesda has not yet released its E3 lineup, so that might shed some light on the matter ...

Pete Hines has revealed that a patch for the X360/PC editions of TES4: Oblivion is in the works. The patch will address a number of issues that they found or were reported by the community. Initially, a beta patch will be released, so err on the side of caution and back up your save games. When the patch has been deemed fully working, a final version will be released shortly thereafter. Oblivion uses the X360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. Quite a few people have complained about
excessive load times, often caused by the cached data being overly fragmented. To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up, which will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the Bethesda Softworks logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared. This does not affect any save games.

An article on
Gamemag.ru, translated by GGMania, seems to indicate that STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl might be in some serious trouble. THQ is said to have cut off financing back in November, a team developing a new graphics engine left shortly after being brought on board, taking with them the source and part of the original develpment team has either been fired or moved onto another project. End of last year THQ ordered an audit of the project and a representative is expected to be on site shortly, and possibly take STALKER to another developer.
Update : GSC's Oleg Yavorskiy says "only 5 people were let go as the new graphics engine nears completion, others went to Heroes of Annihilated Empires. STALKER is almost finished."
