You may’ve heard that new achievements, maps, and unlockable items are on the way. The first map, Goldrush, introduces a new game mode. The BLU team must escort a high-tech mining cart through a series of checkpoints to the RED base within a time limit. The more BLU players near the cart, the faster the cart moves. The cart stops if any RED team member is in the vicinity. Valve is currently the map; look for it within the month.

Valve has released an status update on the TF2 development and revealed "that things are really moving along in development. In fact, things have reached a point where people start getting pretty antsy around the office as we get closer and closer to the 6:00 p.m. playtest session. Valve has announced that they are working around the clock to get all of the pieces of Episode Two ready to show at the Leipzig Games Convention. Valve will be not only be showing off Episode Two, but also Team Fortress 2, and Portal. Earlier today EA held its Studio Showcase 06 where it presented its lineup for the rest of the year and beyond. Valve's Gabe Newell blew our socks off with the announcement that TF2 will be included as multiplayer portion with Episode 2, and even a full singleplayer game called Portal.
