a community update on what they call 'Operation Punk Buster,' the action being taken against cheaters in America's Army (
thanks ve3d). Here's a snip : "we have the means to detect bad guy activities that I know the bad guys do not know we can detect. That’s the way we want it, too – while we haven’t banned them yet, we’re using them to collect more data, track down their friends, and their friends, and learn more as we discover new behavior. The U.S. Army announced today that it has teamed with Ultimate Arena to hold the AMD America's Army: Special Forces Tournament at E3. The tournament will be run by Ultimate Arena and supported by Even Balance's PunkBuster. The final match between a team of four civilians and four active duty U.S. Army Soldiers will take place at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade show in Los Angeles which runs May 12-14, 2004.

The official America's Army website has word that a new patch for the US Army's Unreal engine powered shooter will be released tomorrow. The update will be rather small as it only fixes a few minor problems such as correcting client and server-side flooding issues, Sniper rifle bug from the weapon selection removed, Admin Spectator Mode added, Community Game Server Support added, and a few other things (thanks Blues).
UPDATE : seems this update was a "wrong" date issue and a repost of an old article. No patch coming ...

The US Army have released a small client-side patch for their online multiplayer FPS game America's Army. This patch does not change your version number, and is not required but adresses a few minor issues such as auth problems when completing training, server browser filtering by Honor, resolutions should be available in drop-down box on Video Settings page and admin scoreboard when connecting to Official and Leased servers.
